The large majority of Dutch speak English quite well. And the Dutch have a thing for the American west. The second language that people speak in these instances where people forget their native language and speak in a foreign tongue are always known by the people prior to their injury.
(Nobody wakes up with fluency in a foreign language that they never knew.)
