If he had said that to the victim’s friends and/or family I would certainly agree with you. But he didn’t, and nothing he or anyone else says about it is going to change a damn thing. It is what it is, no more, no less!

So it’s wrong to say that to the victims friends or family. Why? Because it would be hurtful and insulting and ultimately unnecessary. If it is wrong to hurt and insult the family and friends needlessly then how is it OK to offend people who sympathize with the victim and the family?
He put it on a public forum. He said it to the victims family.
