ViacomCBS is getting a new name: Paramount.
The media behemoth — which was created through the merger of CBS and Viacom in 2019 — said the rebrand is meant to focus on the company’s goal of becoming a major player in streaming. It is also, plainly, just a better name.
It’ll also start streaming all Paramount movies exclusively on Paramount Plus starting in 2024 in the US, following their theatrical runs.
Paramount includes major TV networks, like CBS, Nickelodeon, and MTV; the publisher Simon & Schuster; and its titular film studio. But the company is increasingly focused on streaming, where it has three key brands: Showtime, Pluto TV, and Paramount Plus.

Or that nasty liar Lesley Stahl who still won't admit Hillary spied on Trump.
I actually don’t watch anything from that group.
Just Yellowstone and 1883.
I’m not paying $20/month per channel for anything.
NCIS. Blue Bloods. Seal Team
They should get their act together where stuff that is available on the paramount network is also available on P+. Their programming is convoluted. They want me to pay for paramount plus, but I have to add Paramoubt to my cable package to watch the most recent episode of Yellowstone.
It’s bizarre.
No kidding, they are all over the place.
Instead of struggling with their licensing…I spent $20 at the Apple store and bought the season of Yellowstone for my wife.
So paramount lost a potential streaming customer, and I didn’t have to watch commercials. To make my wife happy for $20….it’s a no brained.
I watch the heck out of Pluto. 100+ channels plus movies that rotate in fresh routinely. Zero $$$, ad supported. Download app from your AppStore. If a person doesn't like it, just delete the app, no big deal. Do you get Yellowstone? Nope. I binge out on Adam's Family and Startrek and am contented Lol.
It's unique in arrangement compared to normal cable and networks. It's set up as channels. Ex. Dr. Who channel, Adam's Family channel, several news channels, movies on-demand, various kids channels, etc. Most anyone can find a group of channels to favorite into a quick access short list.
Pluto was an independent startup and then Viacom bought them out. I actually liked it better back then. A lot of the content has now disappeared that used to be there.
Some of the same streaming channels I was watching on it are also streaming elsewhere - like on the Redbox app, Roku channel, etc. And they don’t treat me to ads constantly promoting RuPaul’s stuff like on Pluto.
Thanks…. Your info was useful and interesting.
I watch the FREE Pluto tv shows and Youtube video channels I subscribe to.
I cannot remember any network tv shows I watched on a regular basis.
Pluto tv has shows from the 1950’s to maybe 10 years old.
Can’t say I could blame them for selling...if some giant corporation sees your creation and offers to make you an instant multi-millionaire, it would be difficult to pass up that offer.
I just miss the stuff that used to be there and don’t particularly care for the junk they advertise.
Very, very few recent shows I have cared to watch on regular network TV that are new. Maybe 2 in the last ten years.
