what the video displays, which AB does not seem to describe in the ABC interview, is that AB returned the gun to the holster and then crossdraws the gun again before the gun goes off.

it has been accused of AB that he refused to attend gun safety drills prior to filming.

it is therefore tempting as an exercise to reconstruct AB’s mindset.

what if AB decides subconsciously to rehearse fully the shooting of the gun while performing the “marking” / “lineup” exercise requested by the DP? in this case, a full rehearsal would at some point include pulling the trigger. AB admits regarding the gun as unloaded or containing blanks since the AD announced that the gun was “cold.” In his other role as producer, he would be regarding himself as saving money by rehearsing the actual shooting while performing the lineup. The money saved is paying for crew downtime while actors such as AB are given a safety lesson in proper colt 45 usage. While he subconsciously pulls the trigger, he fails to realize that he has just put the gun in a dangerous state whereby simply releasing the trigger could fire a live bullet.

Mentally, AB believes he is being virtuous by saving money for the production. In an instant, however, his memory of pulling the trigger is wiped out by the shock of hearing the gun firing, feeling the kickback from the gun firing, and seeing the DP hit by the bullet and falling down.

I am not here trying to contradict anyone else making any other points, particularly whether or not AB is responsible (imho, he is). I am just saying how AB’s statements could be reconciled with the end results.

[There may be (?) a distant possibility that the gun mechanism could have failed. However, in that case, basic gun safety handling still could have prevented the DP’s death. Also a defective gun mechanism could be tested and disproven by expert examination and/or firing of the gun, which I find difficult to believe that anyone on the defense would count upon in practice.]

I do agree with those who say that AB should just shut up and seems to dig a deeper hole for himself every time he comments on the shooting. And that he should have been arrested for involuntary manslaughter from the beginning.

I am no gun expert— just giving a WAG here.
