Norm MacDonald did it much better.
I think MacDonald was fearless. He didn’t care. If he thought something was funny, he said it. You didn’t laugh? You were offended? Norm didn’t care. Norm was Norm and it freed him. HOWEVER I think Norm was a really good person, who liked people, who cared about people, and people liked Norm. Norm was a wonderful person.
Chevy Chase? He doesn’t care, and it shows, and no one likes him.
Great post.
I loved Norm. He has a sense of humor I can relate to. I read a story where he was working with an opening act who only had 5 minutes worth of material. Norm went over his material with them and then told the person, he’d go out first. Norm did his set and in the last 5 minutes, did the other guys material right before he came out!! Mean? Yes but I find that funny.
I remember watching Norm do his roast of Bob Saget and how badly his performance and jokes were until I realized he was doing it on purpose. Saget said later he was in tears with Norm purposely bombing. Saget had helped Norm get started in comedy.
I saw a clip of Norm on The View and I laughed so hard! He was in the middle of that menopausal hornet’s nest throwing out what he thought of Clinton or Obama and didn’t give a single damn!!! He had his mouth a little open with a smile on his face, just taking the shrieks and hatred they were throwing at him and changed the subject so smoothly that they forgot why they were mad at him!!!
He was the best!!!
I miss norm.
