Whatever you give the flight attendants will immediately be turned against them.

Guy in big trouble; interfering with the flight crew plus financial since he’ll be fined and have to pay landing fee at MCI which would be around $25,000 plus whatever AL charges him.
After 9/11 it would have been a good idea to allow pilots access to firearms. Store them in a locked safe in the cockpit. Give each pilot a key. The keys must be turned simultaneously, from different spots in the cockpit. Kinda like with missile launches.
Then there’d be no need for combat-ready coffee pots.
A taser would be more effective than a coffee pot.

Very few people raised in the West could hit someone with a bat. Most likely, they’d threaten with the bat and it would get taken away and used against them. It’s similar to having a gun. If you’re not trained and imbued with the will to use the weapon, then you’ve likely armed your opponent.
Also, your company all the way down to your boss would need to establish they’re behind you and that’s even less likely because of liability. The jump in insurance costs all the way down the employee pyramid would be prohibitive.
BTW, I’m guessing drug use in this instance.
I always ask for a ‘seat belt extender’.

Anybody else notice it’s American Airlines that’s been in the news lately?
They did. A good number of pilots do carry but their not going get involved in a passenger donnybrook. Their firearms are only to protect the cockpit. And rightly so.
Where are John Wick and a No. 2 pencil when you really need them?!?
According to the article the guy tried to get into the cockpit. I know cockpit doors are now reinforced. But I do wonder what kind of reception pilots had planned for him had he succeeded.
