Six jurors and four alternates were chosen during the four-day jury selection process. Pasco County Judge Susan Barthle was scheduled to hear final motions from attorneys on Friday before the second-degree murder trial begins on Monday morning.

I remember that, wow no trial yet. I guess they were hoping he’d just kick off.
Scary that an idiot like that became a Police captain. Of course, maybe his mental faculties deteriorated in his old age.
It’s not common but by no means a new thing. Most mean men mellow with age, some just get meaner…and senile.
Mean Old Man——
On my own
How could I have known?
Imagine my surprise
Just a fool
From a tree full of fools
Who can’t believe his eyes
Imagine my surprise
‘Cause I was a mean old man
I was an ornery cuss
I was a dismal Dan
I made an awful fuss
Ever since my life began
Man, it was ever thus
I was a nasty tyke who was hard to like
I had to misbehave
I did things in reverse
Refused to wash or shave
I was horrid to my nurse
I got back what I gave
Which only made me worse
I had to have my way
Which was bleak and gray, oh dear….

Interesting. The ex-cop shoots a husband a wife inside a movie theater over an argument about the husband texting during the previews and the cop has been out on bail for 8 years. meanwhile, the J6 protestors continue to rot in DC jails without being charged over a year later. Special rules.
Why 6? What happened to 12 jurors?
It’s a civil suit not a criminal trial.
The headlines make it sound like a criminal trial.
Read the book, “The Power of Habit”. The man who attacked the ex police officer in the theater didn’t know he would trigger a habit that would result in his death.
Even Reeves was shocked afterwards. His reaction to the attack was primal and instantaneous.
It’s a murder trial.
Oh I am sure the DA gave this guy all sorts of leeway and special accommodation because of his career.... SHAMEFUL!
6 years to get to trial for a PUBLIC MURDER WITH TONS OF WITNESSES!!!
WILLIAMS v. FLORIDA, 399 U.S. 78 (1970).
Sorry. To me, throwing popcorn at someone is an insult. Not an “attack”.
The other six jurors died of old age, waiting for the trial to begin.
(a) Number of Jurors. A jury must begin with at least 6 and no more than 12 members, and each juror must participate in the verdict unless excused under Rule 47(c).
(b) Verdict. Unless the parties stipulate otherwise, the verdict must be unanimous and must be returned by a jury of at least 6 members.
This is what we were warned about in my CHL class. The former cop who taught it explained to us that arguments over minor BS can quickly escalate to shooting, so it is best to walk away from them. The guy who threw the popcorn at the cop chose poorly and paid with his life. The armed ex-cop chose poorly and will pay with his freedom. Not worth it over texting in a movie theater.
When fractions of seconds count shoot first. The video seems to me the victim was going after Reeves and the wife was shot cause she tried to grab her husband to restrain him.
Would’ve began easier to just change seats.
Who was President back then?
How did the ex-cop know in a spit second the man with an attitude wasn’t going to follow up after the popcorn distraction?
Habits reside in the amygdala. Consciousness doesn’t enter into it.
Even the ex-cop was shocked at his automatic reaction.
Ping!
