In Italy, the supervolcano known as Campi Flegrei to the west of Naples is at a yellow alert level as it is undergoing heightened levels of unrest. Hundreds of earthquakes are occurring every month, but more importantly a dangerous threshold is about to be reached. If ground uplift continues at its present rate, it will surpass the level reached in 1984 which led to the evacuation of 40,000 residents. This video will describe what is occurring at this volcano and why an evacuation might be needed later in the year.

My only complaint is, this guy's voice sucks. Reads each sentence with exactly the same inflection.
“Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?”
Is it a bot?
TRUMP’S FAULT . . .
No, that’s the sad part.
Gads, what a mess that would be.
I lived in Pozzuoli for three years as a “tween” Navy brat.
So glad we didn’t know about this then.
I’ve read articles and seen documentaries as an adult. I still want to go back for another visit.
Campi Flegrei seems like a good place for a prison camp for jihadists.

It’s very beautiful there, though. And the weather is mostly spectacular.
And the phenomenal hole-in-the-wall pizzeria on Via Miliscola was still there when I last visited in 2004.

Fascinating. I was stationed in the area and returned to the area via shore leave back in the day.
I was a ground pounder at Naples when this happened.
I didn’t know that this area had active fumaroles and other Yellowstone features.
Nice drone vid from 5 years ago.

The voice is CG/AI text to speech. It’s amazing how fast CG voices are progressing beyond the historical robotic type speech. The inflection derived from the current algorithms drives me nuts, too. But it’s the ‘tell’.

I remember seeing news footage of that. It happened a few years after we got back to the States. It looked pretty awful. Was your immediate area OK? We only experienced a couple of mild earthquakes when we were there.
Were you at AFSOUTH or the NSA base?
We all loved our time there. We lived in Arco Felice (Parco Caruso.)

I think it is a generated voice.
The website owner is very secretive about who they are except for this description.
This channel is run by a professional geologist and informal gemologist/volcanologist who graduated from Arizona State University.
Further sleuthing has found their blog page about screen:
I’m a third-year university student currently studying geology and I started this blog to share my passion for my subject and to hopefully inspire others to learn more about our planetary home. I post every Wednesday so feel free to follow to be notified of new content.
Aside from all the bad puns and memes geology really does rock (sorry) and I hope this blog will show others why geology isn’t “just rocks” and how it can be a fascinating and inspiring subject.

I miss typed. This happened shortly after I left or wasn’t noticeable enough of problem while I was there. If my memory serves me correctly, the 80 earthquake damaged a bunch of building in downtown Naples, but didn’t damage anything around Pozzuoli. I lived a bit farther up the coast near the ancient Greek historical site of Cumae. I sneaked into the closed off underground areas with my roommates a couple of times. This was history channel ancient alien type stuff.
