Three Ways to Make Pigs in a Blanket, Already Perfect, Even Better
Tuck your little piggies into a different blanket.

My most looked-forward-to appetizer at any casual party is pigs in a blanket. I expect to see them at least three times a year—Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and whatever Super Bowl party I attend. If they’re missing, I’ll have something to say about it. These petite bites blend sweet, buttery, wrapped-in-a-pressurized-cardboard-canister dough and a salty, smokey cocktail weenie in one dip-able morsel. Also, you can roll up about 40 of them for under $10, making them perfect for guests and hosts alike. It’s hard to improve on something flawless, so instead, I’d like to offer you a few new spins for your classic little piggies.
Scallion Pain d’Epi-tizer This is a stylistic love-child of French pain d’epin (wheat stalk bread) and Asian scallion hot dog buns, boasting all the flavor of our American sausage sweetheart. The shape of this bun is perfect to tear apart and dunk in the nearest sauce or, if you have a big heart, share with someone who’s worth it. The key to an appealing wheat stalk shape is to slice your dough-wrapped dog at an angle.

My wife is trying to go gluten free.
Has anyone tried making pigs in a blanket with various substitute wraps?
Perhaps cauliflower or almond flower bread.

I highly recommend these products for a grownup but still basic pig in blanket:
All butter (i.e. real) puff pastry

1 egg + 1 tbsp whisked together for egg wash to seal seam (size of sausage-to-dough varies based on your preference), place on parchment lined baking sheet, refridge for 30 min, then brush rest of egg wash on top so "everything" can stick, then bake at 400 for 25-30 min.

Fat head dough is pretty easy and it can be used for a bunch of things.
I have seen it made with almond or coconut flour.

Except mine placed all the pigs in a blanket in a casserole dish and topped it with stewed tomatoes.

I thought the original pig in a blanket was a sausage inside of a pancake.
