SAN FRANCISCO - The California Supreme Court has denied a potential bid for freedom by Leslie Van Houten, a Charles Manson follower serving a life sentence for her role in the murder of a Los Angeles grocer and his wife in 1969.
The high court on Wednesday refused to hear Van Houten’s appeal of a lower court ruling last December that denied her petition for a review. That petition had challenged what it deemed as denial of due process by Gov. Gavin Newsom in reversing a 2020 parole board recommendation.
The petition also said Newsom had refused to provide documents indicating when the board referred the case to him and argued that there was a "strong possibility" that he exceeded a 30-day time limit for review.

Modern day 4K monitor resolutions may be able to capture the pixel’s worth of an image of that small violin playing for her.
Let her rot.
They murdered an actress, you can bet those governors will always protect the Hollywood elite, no surprise at all.
If it was a schmuck like any of us they would have been out in 7 years.
I was surprised as well. Usually. Gavin seems to be on a mission of doing or saying anything that is guaranteed to offend the average person.
The fact that her and the enrire Manson Family wasn’t garroted and lined up along the beach is a travesty of justice.
She should just accept it and live out her life there. She’s trash (as is half of Hollywood and the music industry that knew the Manson crew)
Yep.
That is a shame. Brandon can’t appoint them to a senior DO(i)J position.
Or if she'd killed a couple of cops and a Brink's truck driver, she'd have been out of jail a long time ago and teaching at Columbia University.
And her son would be the DA of San Francisco.
She stabbed those nice innocent people, and then laughed about it in court. The photos are everywhere. Let her die in a jail cell.
She murdered a couple of normal hardworking people. Those grocery store owners. Stabbed the man in the throat with a bayonet. Stabbed the woman 41 times everywhere. The poor Italian woman fought for all she was worth. Pillow case tied around her head with a lampcord... she used the attached lamp and swung it at them till they murdered her. Little whore shoulda been executed as she was first sentenced.
“Van Houten and her boyfriend ran away to San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury District during the city’s Summer of Love when she was 17.”
With flowers in her hair, no doubt.
“The most surprising part of the story is that Governors Brown and Newsom moved to keep her locked up. Kind of amazing that California kept all the ones involved in the Tate LaBianca murders who qualified for parole locked up all these years.”
It is interesting how they fear her being free. I’d like to know what she has on them.
Neil Young was a friend of Charlie.
Seriously.
The rest of the group had to tell him to knock it off.
Manson was a frustrated wannabe rocker.
Indicates Young had a screw loose from the early days.
The lesson: don’t kill someone famous .
Unfortunately, it appears there aren't enough “average person[s]” in Kalifornia to get rid of this douche bag.
Actually, she probably is no threat to society.
“…but from their graves they cry out for justice!…”I can still hear George DiCenzo as Vincent Bugliosi from the 1976 tv movie, Helter Skelter, say, in that trials closing arguments.
I wish all murderers got like sentences. All the innocent people done in by these wretches. There could be a difference here and there.
But in case of the Manson trial agree more with Bugliosi’s statement.
Well, it might be said that the modern day demonrat party(and global elite)are trying to make Manson’s dream a reality(race war)
there is a racial disparity and we all know it....this woman was fairly young and stupid, probably on drugs....if she was anything but a whitey she’d probably have been released by now....
