The blurry image appears to show 18 different blobs of starlight – though they are actually all the same star, shaken up because the pieces of mirror in the telescope are not yet properly aligned...Over the next month or so, Nasa's engineers will adjust the telescope so that those 18 dots merge into one..."The entire Webb team is ecstatic at how well the first steps of taking images and aligning the telescope are proceeding." Do you lack reading comprehension?
No we did not miss the prescription.
When the 18 segments are properly aligned the Webb will produce stunning results
Not for the reason you think
Those are the last names of beloved NASA directors and great people
There is no connection. It is a bunch of jerks who know nothing of NASA history
There is no mirroe.
There is an array of I believe 11 mirrors that require fine adjustment after initial deployment
My son sent us that photo yesterday. He’s a space geek and an actual rocket scientist at NASA. Some friends of his are on the Webb Mission.
It’s the first ever satellite selfie
Way cool!
I do hope you just missed a sarcasm tag.
Wait, it’s not named after Jimmy Webb? The Wichita lineman is still searchin’ in the sun, ya know!
Maybe it can take some better pictures of all those alleged structures on the moon and Mars.
Maybe, next time, they could use color film instead of black & white.
I can’t remember everything...
Not where’s it pointed
Maybe the Thirty Meter can help out with that
The moon is behind it, so it won’t be taking pictures of the moon at all. There’s no telescope that could take better pictures of Mars from 30 million miles away than Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter can take from 120 mi or so above the surface.
They better stay out of Ft. Marcy Park.
