NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The New Mexico Police officer who was shot Friday morning in the Sedillo Hill area is in stable condition at an area hospital, according to a tweet from New Mexico State Police. The shooting happened around 9 a.m. Friday near Sedillo Hill Road bridge over I-40.
New Mexico State Police tweeted they are searching for a male and a female suspect. The male is believed to be between 5’2″ and 5’4″ tall, heavyset, wearing a black hoodie, and blue pants. The female is believed to be 5’7″ tall with a thin build, wearing a tan shirt and black leggings. Anyone with information is asked to call NMSP at 505-841-9256 or call 911.
NMSP Chief Tim Johnson is expected to address the shooting during a news conference at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. KRQE News 13 will live stream coverage of the news conference on this page.
Multiple agencies are working on the scene including Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, Albuquerque Police Department, Satna Fe Sheriff’s Office, and New Mexico State Police.
At this time police have not released any information on what led up to the shooting. However, Sky News 13 captured video of a silver Cadillac sedan heading east near the Sedillo Hill bridge that had bullet holes. The car was also pinned against a guardrail by a police vehicle with the passenger door left open.
Sky News 13 also captured video of law enforcement marching down the road as they search for the suspects. They are also looking in nearby neighborhoods.
People should be aware that officers are redirecting traffic near State Road 333 and Sedillo Hill.
The location is at the top of Sedillo Hill about 15 miles east of Albuquerque and between ABQ and Edgewood. I-40 bisects the location with spacious residential homes on both sides of the interstate in a wooded area.

I really wish that when they spot POS like this, their car looks like that it was on the road to Basra.
are we looking for black or white suspects?? That would help a lot.
Wondered why I saw the news chopper while I was going through the canyon this AM. This place is getting full on crazy, even in the East Mountains.
Based on the description and clothing, given demographics of NM I’d say Latino.
State Police reporting that they believe that two persons in custody are the suspects. But somehow they made their way to ABQ’s Central Avenue.
Gang members, most likely.
Very short suspects, like a lot of illegals.
Criminals on Central? I’m shocked! :)
Are the perps Teens or Adolescentes? There was no description
