Nine Arizona police officers were wounded Friday morning – believed to be the highest number of officers shot in one day – while responding to a shooting that led to an hours-long barricaded situation, which ended with the suspect being found dead inside the Phoenix home, according to investigators.
The incident began around 2:15 a.m. local time, and was resolved at about 7 a.m., police said. Phoenix Police initially responded to a report of a woman shot at a home in the area of 51st Avenue and Elwood Street – and the suspect allegedly invited the officers inside – before he opened fire and struck one of the officers multiple times, police officials said.
More officers were then targeted shortly thereafter, when a man who was not the suspect placed an infant in a pink-colored carrier outside the home, police said. Police do not immediately believe the baby was brought out in an attempt to lure other officers.

They were mouthing off all day a number of times recently about too many people incarcerated, the bail system discriminating and paroles too strict.
And the need to defund police.
In 2016, 14 Police Officers were shot; 5 died and 9 wounded.

There is something wrong with police procedures when this many cops are in the line of fire of a single suspect, with NOBODY providing cover for the cops.
Watching local coverage this morning, I noticed that the suspect placed in a patrol car & the guy that brought out the baby were typical white supremacists militia types in blackface.

Fictional TV cops have one on each side of a door and then getting out of the way as the suspects’ shots go through the center of the door, and one or more cops out on the sidewalk or lawn to stop the criminal running outside past the other ones.
Glad that baby survived.
This thug seemed to have it his way until his death.

Sorry to say it, but self-inflicted or mortally wounded by officer’s return fire, the mother, the child, and the world is most likely better off with this criminal out of it.

And the suspect is DEAD. So, no suspect getting arrested.
He was not the dad apparently.
The suspect - who is dead - apparently was the sire. The dam also got shot and apparently has died. Child is officially an orphan.
I watched the video.
The man who brought out the baby was careful and gentle, and did exactly everything the officers told him to do.
How he’s related or what he’s arrested for (per other poster) I don’t know, but he did the right thing perfectly.
And guess what? He’s still alive!
He is to be commended. He has a heart and some sense.

Against my usual practice, I skipped watching the video and just read the article. Why? Part habit (as, any more, the articles are more informative than the videos) and partially because I am sick of the predictable narrative of these stories.
Did read the Daily Mail article later. It did a much better job of detailing the incident and the courageous man’s role in it.
Glad that he was able to get to safety without being shot by either side.
Still glad Dad is dead. I just wish we had some way of getting these narcissistic SOBs to off themselves without hurting or killing innocent people as well.
Sorry to hear about the mother dying/being murdered. She wasn’t a necessarily a completely innocent party but being murdered shouldn’t be the penalty for getting knocked up either.
Oh I didn’t look at any video here either. That’s a pain. Happened to already see the report on FOX.
Hope baby gets a good family. This might be like “The Little Girl” (except that she’s not a toddler and hasn’t had to see the insanity).

She is young enough that, with luck, she will not have any direct memory at all of these events or the tension-filled days that proceeded the final, fatal rupture. I hope she is adopted by a family that can love, nurture, and guide her so she grows into a productive and well adjusted woman.
It takes effort but it is possible.
