Legendary comedian Dave Chappelle inspired more outrage when he joined a group of local residents to kill a proposal for low income housing in rural Ohio as a part of a large residential development.
Chappelle grew up in Yellow Springs, Ohio, a small rural village of 3,700 people about 20 miles from Dayton. He bought 39 acres of farmland there and moved back in 2005.
On Monday, he attended a village council meeting where he threatened to pull his plans to develop a restaurant called “Firehouse Eatery” and comedy club called “Live from YS" in the town.
"I cannot believe you would make me audition for you! You look like clowns!" he told the council.

Rural areas usually have few jobs and no public transportation. Not a great fit for poor city people.
Harder to panhandle and buy drugs.
I don’t think there’s a reason to jump on the outrage bandwagon here. Development plans that involve building millions of dollars of low income housing often cater to government contracts and are managed by absentee landlords (probably even moreso now that real estate has become the hedge against a falling stock market by major hedgies). They bring people into areas they weren’t already living in because there is housing, and the people who live there end up seeing negative consequences.
Chappelle could have embraced the project, and walked around the low income housing place like a king if that’s the way he wanted to play it, but it would have damaged the larger community.
Poor people need to live somewhere, and safe affordable housing, particularly in urban areas, is something that needs to be addressed. In Chappelle’s section of relatively rural Ohio, it’s probably just a way of a no-name corporate vulture glomming on to a celebrity-linked investment.
Jobs?! Who said anything about needing/wanting jobs?!
Sounds like a great residential area to sit around all day, smoking doobies, listening to rap music, and participating in drive-by shootings.
Regards,
“Legendary?” Now Chappelle is funny, but he’s nowhere near the league of Murphy, Pryor, and Foxx. Or Dangerfield, Seinfeld, and Carlin.
Yellow Springs happens to be the home of Antioch College, where the East Coast liberal elites like to send their more useless progeny for degrees in basketweaving and oppressed peoples’ studies. It is no more a real rural community than Amherst, Massachusetts or Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Section 8.

Then you move them into your neighborhood. I live in one of those places they “needed a place to live”, and it has turned into a crap hole.
Rundown streets, infrastructure falling apart. Over-crowded schools, Garbage everywhere.
”I’m Rick James, bitch!”
Dave C. is fighting the good fight in many ways, pushing back on the fear of being Cancelled, pushing back on low income housing (assuming the majority of that town agree with him),
but I’ve never found him all that funny. He’s a good storyteller, tis true. Not one and the same thing, though.
I wish him continued success standing up for independance.
A lot of lefty small colleges are like that. Gonzaga is one. It’s in the middle of nowhere. I transferred from WSU and Pullman is laughingly called a hick town. It’s not as I spent 3 horrible sems there. The only cool part is that outside the city limits, everyone has a gun.
It's a great fit if you're a Marxist. This project falls right in with BLM's plans to destroy the nuclear family, and everything that is dear to traditional families. It would help destroy an area's livability standard. Crime rates would go up, and private ownership of property would go down because no responsible person would want to continue to live in such a place. What was once a decent place to live, and bring up your family, would be turned into a socialist-run nightmare. Everything that liberals touch, turns to shit.

Just to point this out....the houses were in the $250k to $600k range....planned in an area where the vast majority of homes are in the $100k to $200k range.

Those are still section 8 housing. You need to visit where I am.
I was watching one of his shows and it simply wasn’t funny. It included a white guy getting ‘shivved’ just for being nice and trying to understand.
Everybody is a conservative when it comes to their self-interest.
Gubmint probably wanting to build there for illegal aliens or Somalis.
