The Lord God, the Giver of Good Gifts.

Every good and perfect gift comes down from God; God sent down His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him, will not perish but have everlasting life.

When God becomes a Father to us, He wants us to enjoy abundant life! God wants us to come to Him with our needs, in fact, we are to come boldly to the Throne of Grace (grace=free and undeserved, unearned favor) to find mercy and help in a time of need.

Too often people live like they are temper-tantrum throwing children, demanding their sinful desires and using hurtful ways to get what they want. When they encounter the One True and Living God who has the Right to be their judge, unless they change their minds (repent) they will get thrown into a just and earned “time out”, separated from the light and in eternal darkness. The love of God so poignant that He knew we would not trust him and sin, but even so, He has always been giving us the free will to choose to love Him and to enter into fellowship with Him.

This morning, we were watching the birds at our feeder, and while we provide the feed, the birds know where to fly to obtain that unearned favor. We are free to worship God, who made colorful and animated birds, with wings to fly. We fly by letting our praise lift us above our circumstances.

God gives us spiritual gifts which are a hint of what we will have in our heavenly home. We have made our home here knowing that we are pilgrims on a passage. In our dwelling place God is the source of all the love and joy we rest in. We live like loving is the best leading light that keeps hope ever in sight, one day we will be carried to the heart of God and become new creations: Spirit, body and soul, in glorious light.

My own advice for my children and grandchildren is to “Live every day like loving is the last greatest gift you will ever give”.
