Canadians have done as they were told during the pandemic. They lined up for shots until the country had one of the developed world’s best vaccination rates; they endured some of North America’s longest lockdowns; and they’ve complied with a wide assortment of curfews and quarantines.
But even in a society known for its civility and deference to authority, many are reaching their limit.
The populace may disapprove of their un-Canadian-like antics, but there is a growing sense of support for the main message they’re delivering — COVID restrictions no longer make sense. The protests have been the talk of the nation, around dinner tables, on talk shows and social media. And they serve as a warning shot not just to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau but to leaders everywhere: If even Canada is starting to resist pandemic measures, what does that mean for the rest of the world?
“People are starting to ask, what is the point or what is the efficacy of these restrictions?’” said Shachi Kurl, president the Angus Reid Institute, a research firm in Vancouver.
The protests started in reaction to Canadian and U.S. laws that went into effect in January, requiring truckers crossing the border to be fully vaccinated. They have morphed into a fury over COVID restrictions more broadly. Measures to control omicron hit the economy hard in January, resulting in the country losing 200,100 jobs during the month, Statistics Canada said Friday.
About a third of Canadians support the protest, while 36% think Trudeau should scrap the vaccine mandate for truckers, according to new polling from Innovative Research Group.
A late January poll by the institute found 54% of Canadians want to end restrictions and let people self-isolate if they’re at risk. That was up 14 percentage points from just a few weeks earlier.

The Canadians have figured it out: real science will protect you.
Fake science will enslave you.
“About a third of Canadians support the protest.” Only about a third of colonialists supported the Revolutionary war....
One third is a lot, imo.
there will be no real revolts, only more efF Bee eye false flag shows
“the main message they’re delivering — COVID restrictions no longer make sense.”
And the “vaccines” ARE NOT.
The Science is IN! -—> NO JABS of the current stuff for kids!
And only a third were against. And some of them left for Canada.
“...while 36% think Trudeau should scrap the vaccine mandate for truckers, according to new polling...54% of Canadians want to end restrictions and let people self-isolate if they’re at risk...”
If the pollsters in Canada are like US pollsters, I suspect adding another 20%-30% to those numbers is closer to the actual percentages.
I have always been suspicious of polling as it is usually just government sponsored propaganda intended to influence public opinion.
Only about a third of colonialists supported the Revolutionary war..
Trudeau should be forced to resign. Aren’t there any conservative MPs who will stand with the truckers and demand Trudeau resign?
Trudeau should have resigned when he “manhandling” Opposition whip Gord Brown and elbowing NDP MP Ruth Ellen Brosseau in the House of Commons ,LOL
Real science is Denmark.
Canada is more like political science, ChiCom political science.
We are not far behind.
God bless the Canadians!
“Do you hear the People Sing?”
“54% of Canadians want to end restrictions and let people self-isolate if they’re at risk...”
That’s what the Freedom Convoy is about.
So a lot more than a third support the convoy or the goals of convoy.
Canadians dont know their own history ..
Upper West Canada was settled by protestors who objected to the rebellion in the American colonies ...
Understood, but my point is that if the “official” polls say it’s 54% I suspect the actual percentage of Canadians that support the convoy is 20% - 30% higher, similar to what we see in US polls. Many people polled on the street or by phone do not give their honest opinion to avoid being ostracized or chastised for going against “the mainstream” or being doxxed.
Again, just my opinion.
I agree.
