The phrasing is interesting. For Union troops, “A large supply of packed pork and meal was taken possession of, and was specifically transferred to National pots and from there to National stomachs.” The rebels in contrast are “on the lookout for something to steal” and practitioners of “theft and murder.”

At least back then you knew the perspective/bias you were getting. The cloaking of it now by the mask of putative objectivity is worse.

I don’t think “fair and balanced” was ever a reality. Only the relatively recent claims to it.
