Stephen M. Ross, the owner of the Miami Dolphins, is probably the most "Woke" executive in the NFL.
Within months of buying the entire Dolphin team, he sold fractional shares to local Black and Hispanic celebrities and gave them a stadium sky box for all Dolphin games.
Ross was the first owner to hire a full time female executive for the football front office.
Ross might have been the first owner to have a Black Head Coach (Flores) and a Black General Manager (Chris Grier) working at the same time.
Bottom Line...
There have been 25 Black Head Coaches since the 2000 season. Only 6 have (or had) a winning career record.
Black Head Coaches get treated the same as Black players.
If you do not consistently win, you get fired!
Vestigial limb, wha... ?
Kareem, sit down. You’re still mad at ‘The Man’ when in fact YOU are The Man to many people.
YOU are The Man with the son who almost knifed his 60 y/o neighbor to death for asking a minor question.
If he were not your son, he would have been locked in prison as he deserves to be. Unfortunately, America still treats many of it’s Sports Stars as though they were royalty.
Is he a Mus-a-lum?
Majority of both the NBA and NFL are made up of black players, so yeah, so much for that inherent racism......
Now they want ‘equality and diversity’ when it comes to the number of black coaches to white. Yeah, okie dokie, let’s make someone a coach cause of his race, yeah, that works. NOT! Got a thought: when a black coach becomes actually good at coaching, other than 1 or two past mentions, maybe there would be more?!
“Black Head Coaches get treated the same as Black players.
If you do not consistently win, you get fired!”
No different than White or Hispanic Coaches and players.
“If you do not consistently win, you get fired!”
Yes. Flores is the fourth coach to be fired after approximately three seasons in Miami since Ross took over in 2009. Other three, white. Another white coach got 17 games, interim coach Todd Bowles, black, got five games.
Dungy and Tomlin have shown black coaches can win Super Bowls. If you’re the black Belichick, owners would fall all over themselves to hire you. Kaepernick would still be an NFL QB if he had the talent of Michael Vick. Running QBs usually don’t last.
So tired of PC, dominant narrative Kareem.
Think Flores may have made a serious mistake. Those he accused are using words like “defamatory”. In Miami, if I’m not mistaken, he was 5-11, 10-6, and 9-8. Had a strong 7 game winning streak this year but only after a seven game losing streak. Thought they would give him another year, like Nagy, but they didn’t. Joe Judge got two years. Bengals’ coach 6-25-1, first two years but now in Super Bowl. McCarthy probably only one more year in Dallas unless a Super Bowl appearance.
Thought Flores would probably get another head coaching job soon, might have gotten Texans’ job, but who wants to hire a litigious headache, ready to pull the racial victim card? Texans have enough headaches. How much of a victim can a probable millionaire be? Remember my Dad saying years ago: If you gave most people 4 or $500,000, they’d be tickled to death. They’d make it work.
But as a human being he's simply a pituitary freak with a very, very dark soul.
Sports destroys the “Diversity is our strength” myth.
Jabbar has been an angry brooding racist forever. Hates white people because he hates himself. It’s called projection.
Eagles owner Jeffrie Lurie is another example of the woke exectutive. The circus around the signing of Michael Vick and getting him back into the league was the first of many actions that turned me off on the NFL. By the time the Eagles won there first Superbowl I was in my 3rd year of “not watching”. I still haven’t watched a tape of that game.
Says one of the richest, most successful and well known black men in the world.
What is the “right” number of black coaches & executives?
Alcindor is still sore about Power Memorial’s loss to upstart DeMatha in the mythical national championship in 1964.
I thought that Brian Flores was a good coach in Miami. The only knock against him was that he had failed to develop Tua Tagovailoa. Fair enough. But I’m not entirely convinced that Tagovailoa has what it takes to thrive in the NFL. He was an outstanding college QB but there are a lot of guys like him. Vince Young anyone?
Anyway, even if Brian Flores is right, he’s not going to get a job anywhere. Maybe at a HBCU but even at Grambling State University, they would be hestitant to hire him because no one likes a “drama queen”.
FWIW, I think the NFL is an old boys club. Coaches hire coaches they know. Retired players (who happen to be black) are outside of that network. It appears to be racist. But it’s not. It’s more elitist than anything else. Eventually you’ll have more guys like Tony Dungy and Mike Tomlin succeed. Brian Flores may had been on his way there before he pulled this stunt.
Shut up and fly, Roger.
