He may be telling the truth but the United States has never had a Commander in Chief like Joe Biden. Putin thinks he can stand up against Joe?

I like Putin better than Biden. Putin seems actually very sensible.
I don’t think any big politicians are nice people. Heck, Jimmy Carter put on a good act, but he wasn’t a nice guy. Putin isn’t a nice guy. But I don’t see the slightest chance that he would launch a first strike against us. But I do see at least some possibility that Biden would consider a first strike against Russia.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: The world always has Bad Guys. And right now, I consider the USA to be one of the chief Bad Guys in the world. Russia? I don’t see them that way.

There is a FReeper who has made the statement that no country would ever use nukes. I believe that the first nuclear capable country in danger of losing a war on its own soil WILL use nukes, inevitably. Even us.

Rational thinking can disappear in a heartbeat. That’s why the cold war lasted for 50 years (MAD). Our current leaders think MAD is something that happens to you when someone stands up to your foolish demands.

I never said that I was.
In fact, the point I was making that is lost on almost everyone who replied to my post was that a statement like Putin’s indicates (to me at least) that he is likely to invade. Why would he bring up (bluff or not) the use of nukes if he is not invading.
But either way, I don’t think the U.S. should police a conflict in Europe. Where is the EU. This is their back yard
Putin is bluffing, it’s all hyperbole. We’ve war-gamed this in our heads and it’s all under control. Using our game theory computer programs we’ve decided the russkies will never use nukes. When the neo-cons get the war they think they want it will turn into a sh*t show, and it will end in tears.
