Commander is two ranks below General.

Actually, Commander is a Navy rank and is one rank below Captain. There are five levels of Admiral above Captain. In the Army, the equivalent rank to a Commander is a Lt. Colonel.

To nitpick, Commander is two ranks below Admiral. You're thinking of Lt.Col which is the same pay grade as Commander in other services. Technically, you're correct.
