Whoopi Goldberg has been suspended from ABC following her controversial comments about the Holocaust in which she said the extermination of six million Jews was not about race.
“Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments,” ABC News president Kim Godwin said in a statement.
“While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments,” Godwin added. “The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities.”

Where did their cultural traditions come from if not inherited one generation to the next?

Apartheid South Africa was founded in 1948.
State governments in the U.S. still had Jim Crow laws in the 1950s or even 1960s.
Israeli IDs used to state whether a citizen was Jewish, Arab, or Druze. They only stopped that practice in 2005.
I'm sure many Third World governments take an interest in people's race or ethnicity. Or in Africa, tribal identity (a form of ethnicity) might be very important.

You are correct, and there has been total “blackout” for a long generation.

Suspending her is silly. "Racism" in current usage has nothing to do with race. It deals with ethnicity or tribalism. That said, Hitler followed the science of his day and certainly considered Jews a race. Said science not limited to Germany. Eugenics was accepted by many in the US at the time. Today many, including Whoopi, attribute evil exclusively to Caucasians. I find her implication that the Holocaust was just white on white hatred, an acceptable thing to say today, more disturbing than the silly are Jews a race discussion. It's rather obvious they're not.
