If you look at Craigslist most of the dogs are pit-bull or pit-bull mix. Not sure if that is indicative of the dog population in general.
Since the shutdown so many people in my suburban DC (former commuters) area have gotten dogs -- a very many are the breeds as you described. And, from what I see of them, in that these happy new owners are incredibly incapable of handling them (including my next door neighbor whose pit-mix charged my dogs and me a few weeks ago -- thankfully for it, it responded to my commands to stop while the family ran in circles yelling at it), many of these dogs will be up for re-adoption soon.

We call the pandemic puppies or pandemic dogs.

People got puppies during the shut-down, but because of the shut-down the dogs never received a key component of training.

And it is not just the one breed we have seen with issues. It is nearly every dog in the 2 year old or younger age group.
