Former President Donald Trump conjured a vision of a second term that would function as a tool of personal vengeance, and become even more authoritarian than his first, when he vowed to pardon US Capitol insurrectionists if he runs for the White House again and wins.
His pledge at a Texas rally Saturday was accompanied by a call for demonstrations if prosecutors in New York, who are probing Trump's business practices, and those in Georgia, looking into his attempts to reverse his election loss in the state, do anything that he defined as wrong or illegal. The comments underscore Trump's obsession with delusional lies that he won the 2020 election, and his determination to put that falsehood at the core of the Republican worldview. As was often the case during his four years in office, Trump's pardons threat shows that he still makes no distinction between his personal goals and the national interest or rule of law.
But the former President's new rhetorical outburst also at times hinted at concern with his own legal position, and comes at a moment when various criminal and congressional lines of investigation seem to be tightening around him. The House select committee probing the January 6, 2021 riot has now penetrated deep inside Trump's West Wing inner circle, and he lost a Supreme Court bid to keep key documents secret. The likelihood of a damning accounting from the committee, bristling with new details about Trump's attempt to destroy American democracy, is growing, though the GOP has sought to thwart it at every turn.

You’re fooling yourself if you think any Republican nominee will escape media/Demonrat crucifixion.
If the Dems and media were so desperate for Trump to run again, they wouldn’t be attacking him 24/7 with their pathetic lies and deranged hate and attempting to use all their power in an illegitimate Congress and illegitimate committee to try to “outlaw” him from running again. They are utterly terrified of him, as all treasonous scum should be.
Well gives me hope. Maybe idiots like this really will move out of the country if Trump wins a second turn, rather than stay and live under a chilling dictatorship with roving bands of Trumpsters terrorizing them.
Have you seen his crowds? If he runs, he will win. This Independent will vote for Trump.
Pence will reap what he has sown. A pox upon him and his house.
I hope he does all of the above PLUS
-reverses every single last thing Biden has done 180 degrees, -summarily fires all the Leftists in the military,
-guts the 3 letter agencies and banishes them from Washington DC,
-fires Fauci
-simply abolishes entire departments like the department of education and fires all the useless bureaucrats there,
-busts up big tech,
-abolishes all funding for NPR and PBS,
-pardons Snowden and Assange,
-forces the military to take back everybody that the Leftists fired for being a patriot or for not taking the Fauci juice at their former ranks in their former positions AND pays them back pay
-prosecutes the Russia Collusion hoaxsters
-prosecutes those at the FIB who leaked information to the NYT and other Leftist outlets
- and in general punishes his enemies
- then taunts them about it.
CNN makes no distinction between news and editorials. Their propaganda is in the style of an official communist rag, like the CCP’s Global Times or People’s Daily. It’s childish and embarrassingly transparent.
Thats a great campaign slogan for Trump. Im sure he’ll use it. 2020 rehash is a winning strategy.
The media would love nothing more than to rehash 2020 for the entire election cycle.
People dont like sore losers.
This authoritarian author, Stephen Collinson closes his unhinged distorted rant with what he considers the telling blow: a tweet from John Dean, the architect of Watergate.
John Dean, a former White House counsel to President Richard Nixon in the Watergate scandal, condemned Trump’s remarks on pardons in a chilling tweet.
“This is beyond being a demagogue to the stuff of dictators. He is defying the rule of law. Failure to confront a tyrant only encourages bad behavior,” Dean wrote. “If thinking Americans don’t understand what Trump is doing and what the criminal justice system must do we are all in big trouble!”
“He’s got to stop obsessing over the 2020 election, to start with.
But, he can’t. His ego is so fragile he can’t possibly learn how to move on.”
Because it was stolen, and it seems you are just fine with that.
XiNN.
Nuff said.
“Trump would have a difficult time winning over independents due to this abrasive personality and hostile media in opposition.”
That’s the recipe. Stab the guy that “brung you to the dance” in the back. Sharpen that stiletto.
