Glenn Greenwald: "For US liberalism, censorship is a virtual religion now"

@ggreenwald

Remember that NBC lured @MegynKelly away from Fox with a $69 million contract but chose to fire her after 6 months and pay her rather than withstand liberal anger. At some point, Spotify will face the same choice with Joe Rogan: how much are they willing to lose to keep him?

Obviously, Spotify is not going to get rid of Rogan over Neil Young or Joni Mitchell. But for US liberalism, censorship is a virtual religion now, so they will start pressuring bigger names to do this. They try to make any platform toxic which allows dissent from liberal pieties.

You are correct.

The line broke, the battle is lost, the Left is in the pursuit phase moving to slaughter.

Remember those liberal bumperstickers from the 70’s, “Question Authority!. Apparently there was some fine print at the bottom... “Until we’re the authority”.

Good point.

Leftists don’t believe in constitutions or other documents.

They just believe in raw power—getting it and using it to oppress others.

Some leftist once explained:

“The issue is never the issue. The revolution is the issue.”

This is a HUGE GIGANTIC opportunity for Rumble or some other video company who should put together a financial offer similar to Spotify’s and offer it to Rogan in the event he’s canceled by Spotify because I think Greenwald is correct momentum is building for a group of current top artists to pull their music eventually Spotify will take notice

Actually the Supreme Court has ruled that no agent of the government can pressure private businesses to regulate speech. That includes members of Congress acting on their own and federal employees. It doesn’t have to be a law passed by Congress.

“now”? Suppression of truth has always been near the top of their list. Just one example off the top of my head — the effort to squelch Rush by reinstating the “Fairness” act so stations carrying him would have to tank their ratings and revenue by carrying 3 hours of leftist radio (and therefore get stations to stop carrying him).

That’s just a relatively recent example; no difficulty pulling out yellow journalism dating back as long as the socialist/communists have existed.

Any level of government forcing a baker or photog to implicitly or explicitly endorse homoerotic ersatz marriage via one’s livelihood is absolutely regulating speech.

In both cases, it is the message, not the person, that is at issue - but the 1st Amendment is ignored.
