    Something from nothing? Sounds familiar..................
To: Red Badger
I have a very good vacuum, and all it ever produces is a bag full of dirt.

"Cosmic Physics Breakthrough: Scientists Produce Particle-Antiparticle Pairs From a Vacuum"Great! It seems that scientists have found a good use for the empty skull of Kamalamadingdong!!

Its not something from nothing, its something from vacuum and electric charges done in a certain way in our particular universe with the particular laws of nature that God has chosen for it to excibit.

    See? Something from nothing!

Unfortunately, they weren't quick enough to turn it off, and their laboratory is now out of control and looks like this...

if you Produce Particle-Antiparticle - wouldn’t they cancel each other out and you’d be left with nuttin?

"...something seemingly impossible happened: electrons seemed to become superluminous,..." Hmmm...
That must be why I was getting those migraines for a while last year...
 A disturbance in the "force"...

    Exactly!
they had nothing so that proved the experiment worked!.............

To: Red Badger
"that intense electric or magnetic fields can break down the vacuum" Umm, an intense electric/magnetic field is not nothing. This is especially true since physicists believe that everything is just interacting fields.
The science is good, but the philosophical understanding is as stupid as the rapist Krauss's "A Universe from Nothing" wherein he posits the universe occurring from nothing except our current understanding of the Laws of Physics, which again are not nothing.

To: Red Badger
They filled their simulated vacuum Those words somehow, do not fit with the creation of things in a vacuum...

A vacuum is assumed to be completely empty space, without any matter or elementary particles.
/\
\/
Assumed huh ?, by who ? This urinalist ?
\/
the vacuum energy of free space has been estimated to be 10−9 joules (10−2 ergs), or ~5 GeV per cubic meter.
/\
\/
space is not empty.
