Maybe shes to young to understand.
Break a leg.
She is an idiot bubblehead….my grandfather would have just called her a poophead.
Did she not make the us team? Or did she leave the team?
Is she a Chinese citizen?
No - she thinks she can be one of the special ones in China. She’s an idiot, and appears too lao wai or “Westerner” (西方人) for mainlanders to tolerate in private.
An oddity or specimen at best.
Sigh yeah she’s very pretty and talented. I thought it was interesting too…choosing to rep China. I mean she is half-Chinese, but yes it has political implications. What are her thoughts on the way her fellow Chinese are treated? Why did her mom immigrate to the US in the first place? Etc...
Maybe she is promoting freedom in her own way by inspiring aspiring Chinese female athletes on what can and should be possible for all of them too? I dunno.
She’s top ranked and very talented.
The Princess of Scum.
Her US passport should be revoked.
Okay but some of the commentary against her is totally uncalled for.
She QUALIFIED for the Olympics as she is an International Gold Medal winner.
But hers is a complicated situation because the CCP can make up their rules any way they want.
She was born in the United States to an American father and first-generation immigrant mother of Chinese origin. Which makes her a US CITIZEN BY BIRTH.
But she has competed for China since June 2019 by requesting a change of nation with the International Ski Federation.
She acquired Chinese citizenship via naturalization in 2019 at age 15.
The Olympic Charter Rule 41 by-law allows for multiple citizenship.
Chinese nationality law does not recognize dual citizenship.
The law allows minors of Chinese descent under the age of 18 to apply for Chinese citizenship by having a parent or legal guardian submit their naturalization application on their behalf with the understanding that they will not retain foreign citizenship upon approval.
Although a different case, China is known to tolerate, though not acknowledge, dual citizenship for those born as dual citizens until they turn 18, at which point Chinese citizenship lapses if the foreign citizenship is not relinquished.
The United States does not allow U.S. citizens under the age of 16 to renounce their U.S. citizenship and has additional safeguards for those under 18, and it also provides minors under 18 who renounce citizenship the opportunity to reclaim their citizenship until six months after they turn 18.
As a result, it is possible for Gu to hold only Chinese citizenship from the perspective of China while holding dual citizenship from an international point of view.
She is the very model of a globalist/elite Democrat. She is not a true American, nor could she ever be trusted in any matter of importance regarding the American nation. She is also a fool. China will never trust her and will only use her only as a political prop.
I think a few years living in Harbin would be great for her!!
Instead she’ll be a hit on the Beijing club scene.
What did she learn about America in San Fran schools? Communism is good, America is bad. Watch and see.
She looks too Westernized. The Chinese will never accept her as one of their own. So did she fail to qualify for the U.S. team?
Read Post #13
she’ll probably take a knee when the real Americans kick her sorry arse.....
Make her stay in china.
Let her stay in China! What an ungrateful b*.
