One Dutch photographer was inspired to take pictures on the beach, where capturing her dogs in action sparked her interest. She later took portraying that interest to another level entirely, photographing huge horses in dynamic shots.
Christina Merk’s affection for photography was handed down to her from her father when she was a child. He had a darkroom that first kindled her passion; she would also sometimes pose as her dad’s model.
And as a child, she was also very fond of horses and rode them often.
“I love nothing more than capturing horses in action,” Merk told The Epoch Times. “Their strength, beauty, and freedom is the most beautiful thing there is.”

Wonderful images, I have a friend near where I grew up that had draft horses. We used to ride them bareback but my crotch was killing me the end of the day. Also ducking under every branch on the trail was crazy.
Fabulous! Thanks for taking the time to post these photos.
manipulated pictures.
Beautiful. Have always loved horses. Hope all horses are well treated and not abused and neglected.
Thank you for this! Came at the perfect time- going through some personal struggles right now and needed a reminder of God’s beauty.
Magnificent! Thank you.
You are in my prayers.
There was a great movie called “Justin Morgan had a horse”.
It was about the origination of the Morgan horse.
Cool movie
They are ALL manipulated.
But these are not horribly adjusted.
It has to do with the lens and the very low depth of field. It will have a very sharp “point” focus, but the rest will be soft.
Horses aren’t my thing, and I am not crazy about these. But digital images are always processed a little bit. Its the nature of the beast.
I miss my team of Belgians. They were fun to drive. Had Morgans for riding and driving. All in Greener pastures now.
“...She ran calling Wildfire...”
If you love horses...
Netflix Bad Sports’ Series exposed how the Rich and Powerful abused and killed them. Crazy.
great kids book too
“I miss my team of Belgians. They were fun to drive.”
That is awesome. Something I always wanted to do. Worked a LOT of stock, but never got the opportunity to handle a team.
Thanks for the reminder. I spent a while on youtube. Very moving song.
Basil and Blackie, Sally and Dolly, June and Barney, and our stallion, Ironwood Jake. These were the main teams, and the big guy, on my childhood farm. We kids learned to drive them on the stoneboat, which was the least dangerous. Even when we had the tractors, my Dad hitched them up regularly.
It's science.
