Actually the original Maverick was based on the Falcon chassis and went into production before the Pinto.
I rather liked the 5 door 7 cylinder sedan.
“ Never buy a vehicle that’s in the 1st few years of production.......just sayin’.”
My parents bought one of the first Maverick’s in 1970. It spent most of the first year that they owned it at the dealership service department.
I don’t blame you at all.
We moved to Lewis Co. TN, Dec. 2016, from Mercer Co. IL. But I’ve been buying used vehicles from south of the I40 since 2002. If I can’t have proof of where a used vehicle has been registered, I keep looking.
Iirc, six years ago I saw an 06 4runner online in Franklin, TN, that met all my specs (esp the low 80k miles for a 9 yr old suv), except for Carfax showed it had spent over 7 yrs in a suburb of Chicago (Naperville). Salt and big city stop and go driving ruled it out.
You are going to have to shell out some bucks for that.
I wanted a small diesel truck because everything else on the homestead is diesel until I checked the prices.
Even the used was more then my budget would take so I ended up with a 1985 Ford Ranger. It does what is needed and if work is required I can do most of it myself.
Doesn't sound like they need it. Ford would have never gone to production with this model unless their projections showed it would be successful. The fact that actual orders appear to be far greater than their projections suggests that they have a hit on their hands.
I thought Scotty liked Ford trucks, too. He used to.
LOL, true on all.
My father bought my mother a 1972 Chevy Nova. Supposed to have a small 6 cylinder engine but ended up having a big “8” cylinder racing engine.
My mother became “The Little Old Lady From Baltimore”. Could blow off a jet if she wanted to.
I just wish that my parents hadn’t sold that beautiful 57 Chevy 210 with its hidden asskicking overdrive. So many memories, so many girls, including at one adventure 8 of them and moi. Got a few looks that day!
When one guy asked me how I did that, I just modestly said “Practice”!
“19,995.00 starting price. No frills.
4 banger gas and EV motor”
Wondering what real world pricing is? $21,500 min. for sure. Ford played games with the mandatory delivery charge to come up with the $19,995 MSRP. They get $1500 for delivery charge. That’s as high as I have ever heard for that fee, although other manufacturers have raised it as well.
Was Pinto already taken?
Bingo I did once what a nightmare go to any dealership and check out most of the car are in the repair area most ate electrical problem.
Some of the parts were in a GM box but the fine print said MADE IN CHINA.
