The crime in SF is not chasing away big $$$$ investors.

It's chasing away the businesses who are selling for whatever monies they can get.

Investors and developers are buying up all the old houses and vacant lots around downtown Detroit. If owned by the city, they're just paying off the back taxers.

I was downtown a couple years ago for the first time in many years and I was amazed at the transition that was taking place. Renovated office buildings, designer stores, upscale bars and restaurants, abandoned industrial buildings converted into lofts and apartments.

Here's an example of the changes taking place along the river front:

So they knocked down the Ghetto and moved the problem elsewhere and started policing the area to make sure it's safe and free of criminals that would scare away ordinary folks who spend money.

Yes, downtown Detroit and now the suburbs are booming. I went to a car show at Cobo 2019 and could not believe the transformation.
Went to Woodward Dream Cruise August 2021 and went downtown that Saturday night...Dang..

My brother lives near Detroit and all the millenials are buying the old homes and fixing them up or building new.

Detroit is going to be a top city in a few years. All the hi tech companies are moving in.

Not what I was told to believe about Detroit.

Appreciate your post about Detroit.
I have been working out of state since 2015. I came home from my last assignment in L.A. March 1st 2020. (COVID shut down program, and eventually World). Finally meet coworkers for the England v Italy Match, and the The Ohio State v Michigan Game downtown for both events, I was very impressed. The improvements to the surrounding neighborhoods, and neighborhoods closer to the suburbs also is also great to see,
