Gonzaga suspends Stockton’s season tickets over mask rule

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Gonzaga has suspended John Stockton’s basketball season tickets after the Hall of Fame point guard refused to comply with the university’s mask mandate.

Stockton, one of Gonzaga’s most prominent alums, confirmed the move in a Saturday interview with The Spokesman-Review.

“Basically, it came down to, they were asking me to wear a mask to the games and being a public figure, someone a little bit more visible, I stuck out in the crowd a little bit,” Stockton said. “And therefore they received complaints and felt like from whatever the higher-ups — those weren’t discussed, but from whatever it was higher up — they were going to have to either ask me to wear a mask or they were going to suspend my tickets.”

Stockton has come out against COVID-19 vaccines, mask mandates and other protective measures. Last June, he participated in a documentary titled “COVID and the Vaccine: Truth, Lies and Misconceptions Revealed.”

Meanwhile, public health experts say masks are a key virus-prevention tool that are most effective when worn by a large number of people.

Gonzaga also hired Melissa Click (?), the “I need some muscle” woman from some of the early BLM demonstrations in Missouri (?).

“Health experts” say masks are great.

Can these experts read? They should have to name these experts, so we can ridicule them.

Jesuits... What did you expect?

Stockton is a god in Spokane with the community, and the fans and alumni of Gonzaga. Not a good move by the University, and I think someone will have to eat crow at best, resign at worst.

Jesuits indeed. I went to a Jesuit Uni and decided I wasn’t Catholic any more. Priests totally hated women.

I went to the San Jose Sharks hockey game with a friend last night. Everybody was masked up...probably 99.9%. Having just arrived from 99.9% unmasked Idaho, it was a real shock. Nobody questions it.

We had to show our vaccination cards to get in, too (I decided to get three Moderna shots).

If I was even slightly wealthy one of those things would have never touched my face unless in a medical situation, etc. But, as it is, I’ve has to travel so I had little choice. I truly believe masks cause a lot of damage including psychological damage. They need to go so that we can start dealing with said damage.

Spokane, Washington should be different. I known that Pacific Northwest is sane outside of liberal strongholds outside of Portland and Seattle. But I’m not familiar with Spokane. Is it a college town? So then this isn’t too surprising and it’s not that much different from Seattle.

Masks are proven useless against Covid transmission.

This is all about TYRANNY and COMPLIANCE.

This article is not going to age well, Greg Joyce who has done nothing in life is calling John Stockton and damn liar, because Stockton says vaccines are killing athletes.

Greg Joyce, you did this to yourself!

“I known that Pacific Northwest is sane outside of liberal strongholds outside of Portland and Seattle.”

Eastern Washington is a much greater conservative base than the western part. That liberal stronghold you mention near Seattle is King County. However they decide to vote for the state issues, with a little help from other people, is going to pass. Last presidential election was liberal 75.0% DNC, 22.2% GOP, and 2.8% Ind. Population of King Co. is 2.3 million. That’s 1.75 million votes every time liberal as they never cross over. The population of Washington is right around 8 million so King’s 1.75 million is 22% of all the population, and if they vote, and if they are counted properly.

“But I’m not familiar with Spokane. Is it a college town?”

It is a sports town. Spokane’s notable sports teams include the Spokane Chiefs (Western Hockey League), the Spokane Indians (Northwest League baseball) who play their home games in nearby Spokane Valley, the Spokane Shock (Indoor Football League), and the Spokane Shadow (Evergreen Premier League). They are very supportive of Gonzaga basketball and their recreation department for the city promotes a lot of public tournaments and events of different types.

But it is also a kickback old world town. The people are relaxed and enjoy living in nature along with the above events. I like Spokane. Wish I was able to go there more often.

Spokane wants desperately to be a sh!thole like Seattle. The city recently housed vagrants (homeless) in the convention center for two weeks during an arctic blast. It cost the taxpayers $400,000 and, big shock, they did $90,000 worth of damage to the facility. How? They treated the facility like the city streets: after trashing the restrooms and rendering them unusable, they used the walls and floor. Some elected officials were angry, others were concerned it might get hard to find housing in the future because no one wants them. The mayor said she wanted every member of the council to provide three locations in their own district that could house them next time. So far, crickets.

I took 5 sems at WSU before transferring to Stanford. Pullman is almost close to Spokane and it’s a college town. All cities with a university tends to be left. And just like America, you get out of the city limits, people tend to lean conservative. Head down to Wenatchee, Pasco, they’re like red states. I had foreign classmates and they would be shocked when I bring them to pawn shops and one wall is full of guns..

Typical American university ... low-IQ’d and ignorant. Show me a study that indicates masks work.

Nobody should want to be the last person/organization off the COVID-19 merry-go-round. It’s going to be more expensive in terms of public credibility as time goes forward.
