So silly, as someone who has lived next to that lake all my life and as someone who looks out on it every day. I can tell you this happens a lot. It requires a cold period to cause the ice layer, then snow. And the ice needs to be pushed near shore so you can see it. I am looking out at it now, and the ice flows are out about a football field away. But when they come nearer I will see it. I see it about half the winters.
