Worked in Lakeview and enough elevation for an excellent view, no recall of this type of event.
A few years when the lake froze as far as I could see and the sunrise on the frozen lake; nice.
I used to ride my bicycle from out here in Dupage to work on occasion...
Those days are gone.
I woke this morning and there were ice flows about a hundred yards out. And visible water vapors were rising off the water. Now the ice and the vapors are gone, And the lake is indistinguishable from the same lake on a summers day. Except there are no boats.
The lake is different every day. And its often very different from sunrise to mid afternoon. Most days it changes several time. On a slow news day, I could write a news story on the lake every day. Yesterday the bald eagles were courting each other with acrobatic flights. The trout and salmon must be coming to the surface for the big birds to feed on.
If a writer wants to describe the lake he is doing it a disservice by statically describing a slice in time. The lake is change.
