Living in Atlanta in 1972, I picked up a wooden crate with the Allman Brothers’ ‘peach logo’ on it. What a treat I had. Somewhere along my trials and tribulations, I lost it. I think of it a lot.

Never tire of listening to the Allman Brothers, the stuff with Duane is magic.

Released in 1972 on “Eat A Peach”, written by Dicky Betts, however Duane is all over that track. It was recorded in 1971. He is not in the photo.

I really started to get into the Allman Brothers last year or so.

If only the “Original Six” stayed intact, I’m convinced they would have been the biggest rock band of the 70s.

I'll be travelling to Macon, GA in February - one place I'm considering to visit is their house museum.

We had a debate at work about the “Great American Band”. What one band, by itself, typified American music.

My pick was The Allman Brothers.

The consensus was Aerosmith, which (imho) is a British band that just happens to be from Boston.

Best band ever -- hands down.

"Blue Sky" has become my favorite Allman Brothers tune.

I came across this clip on YouTube a few weeks ago. I have listened to it about a dozen times since then:

The “Eat a Peach” album was a classic 70s album in every way, all the way down to the cover and liner artwork. Actually, LP record album art is one of the great losses in music.
