Not the absolutist nonsense spewed by most on here. Some sort of reasonable expectation, such as a bad flu year in the USA.
Countries such as S. Korea have done MUCH better than that, whether by case rates, or by fatality rates. Not that I'd want to live in that sort of Orwellian State.
Omicron infects many more people (number), a lower percentage of them die (rate), and the death count is the product of those values, which could be increasing or decreasing. As long as the death count doesn't overwhelm the health services, it's just what one expects. Why the fear-porn?

I have bad news for you -- there NEVER was any "stopping it". That concept was and is a blatant LIE. "Slow it"... maybe. So although the latter part of what you said is strictly speaking true, the implication that it is a function of omicron's higher rate of spread is false.

The situation IS improving, and though it will be many months before it is "over" (as much as it will get over), we can all look forward to that.

I don’t know anyone who isn’t sick. Vaxxed and unvaxxed. Just seems a really bad cold to a mild flu.
