The update from the company follows a CNBC report on Thursday that said Peloton plans to temporarily stop production of its Bike in February and March and won't make its Tread treadmill for six weeks starting in February.
The company already paused production of the upgraded, more expensive Bike Plus in December and won't resume until at least June, reported CNBC, citing internal company documents. Peloton reportedly may not produce any of the larger and heavier Tread Plus in the 2022 fiscal year.
Foley pushed back on the report, saying the information obtained by the media is "incomplete, out of context, and not reflective of Peloton's strategy,"
Demand for Peloton's Bike, which starts at $1,495, and other equipment spiked early in the COVID-19 pandemic as people looked to improve their at-home fitness routine. But over the past year, the company has faced slowing demand and other hurdles. In May 2021, Peloton issued a voluntary recall of the newer Tread and Tread Plus because of reports of injuries and a potentially fatal risk to children and pets.

This putz company went the SJW route on their advertising. Great to see this!
Peleton stock has been hammered this week, and they haven’t reached bottom yet. I always thought the interactive stationary bicycle app was weird. Paying a monthly fee to have somebody call out your name like the old Romper Room show. Whatever floats the boat, as they say.
I think Peloton got some hype because of lockdowns, but totally agree with your view.
Seems to me that if your business model is based essentially upon a concept (the motivational videos), and you make a product that is made by many other people and has been around for a long time (stationary bikes), you should do everything you can NOT to alienate your customers.
I hope the wheels come off their business.
Thank God! Now I don’t have to see their stupid commercials anymore
Their fortunes seemed to have changed drastically in a very short time...
They started out woke, now broke. I sold my used bike for a $400 profit at beginning of pandemic.
I hope the wheels come off their business

Looks like the public spoke.
Not Peloton! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think it costs about $50/month to have the on-line Peleton service. Add that to an already expensive stationary bicycle.
I started riding bicycles in the fall of 2018. Once winter hit I stopped then restarted in the spring (2019). At that point I really got hooked and didn’t want to go soft over the winter so started looking into virtual bicycle trainers. I found a used Kurt Kinetic Road Machine for $40 then put in another $70 for the In-Ride 3 sensor and a few other items, using my regular bicycle on the trainer and with a $15/month subscription to Zwift, went on to riding 6200 miles in 2020.
In 2021 I purchased an upgrade control unit for my Kinetic trainer making it a wheel on smart trainer. I have about $400 in my trainer, had I felt confident at the beginning that I would have stayed with bicycles I would have been happier buying a Wahoo Snap $500 smart trainer but what I have works great and with Zwift simulating hills have become fairly good at real life bicycle riding right here in the Pocono Mountains of NE PA.
In short whatever floats one’s boat but Peleton is way too much money for what you get. There are less expensive virtual platforms than Zwift but $15/ month is ok and there is a lot of options there.
I purchased a Wahoo kickr Snap for about $350 about 3 or 4 years ago and it works great. I can drop my road bike into the Wahoo trainer in just minutes without any bike adjustments and it does a great job simulating terrain with my BKool simulator subscription (only 10 Euro a month).
So much cheaper than Peloton and in my opinion much less hassle.
Way overpriced fad. This was so predictable.
“Looks like the public spoke.”
A left-wing company like Peleton will look for a way to latch on to the public nipple.
Stupid expensive exercise bike marketed to people with more money than sense. I actually know someone who bought one, used it less than ten times and then just stopped using it. This is a measure of their target market. However, even the blind get wise to gimmickry eventually. They deserve to go bankrupt.
