“Great news... For H1B workers.”
A friend works in downtown Columbus as a programer for a insurance company..Mid 50’s in age. He is one of the few white guys left. All indian.
He has 2 or 3 more years for his pension to kick in at the higher level. Trust me he is counting the days.
He goes down to his car and eats his lunch listening to 70’s and 80’s music to unwind.
He is a dinosaur like me.
Be prepared for extreme incidents of corporate sabotage ...... by the socialist democrats ........ send me that cookie recipe !
#7 the democrats will try to extort Intel and ruin the future plans.
I would advise your friend to keep that job for a long as possible, since it will be his last IT job.
For Columbus, I’ve seen recruiters hawk openings for:
- Wendy’s
- Limited Brands
- an Insurance company
- possibly a bank, with offices downtown

Recently, I re-wrote an IT resume for someone in Boston. This fellow is homeless & is living out of his car. I’ve sat on speakerphone calls, where he’s being offered $25 per hour as a contractor, with no benefits. This is no future for dinosaurs.
Amtrak is hiring conductors for the Northeast Corridor. I need to sit down with my homeless IT friend & get him to apply. Amtrak would be a better deal than the crap these Desi bodyshops are selling.
He knows. All the people his employer have hired besides being Indian are 23-30 years old.
He said they keep him around because they have old old record records on a old computer language the young ones do not know and they never got around to moving them yet to a new format...something to that..
Ageism is the real “racism” in this country, not racism.
Once you reach 40-45, no company with f/t and benefits will hire you if you are older than that unless you got super skills.
COBOL?
That could be it. I heard that name before. I am not into computers. I took Fortran in college so I am dating myself.
