A motorcycle driver was killed in a horrific crash in West Hills.
The Los Angeles Police Department was tracking the motorcycle driver who was allegedly wanted for theft.

I spent a few years racing super bikes after my motocross years.
I would not ride on the street. Track was much safer.
Lots of protective gear, and everything else moving at the same speed.
I believe at 130mph, you are traveling at over 200feet per second.
Things happen very quickly at that rate.

An unmarked cop car saw him acting squirrelly and ran the tag, it came back stolen. They followed him into a shopping center and tried a stop. He fled. Because of the area, time of day, traffic, etc pursuit wasn’t authorized and the chopper was called in.

If Los Angeles had proper Motorcycle Control including Full Background Checks, the Motorcycle wouldn’t have done this.
motorcycle ping
He really caught some air and the way he was spinning I’m sure one of his shoes hit the moon.
This is why I always laugh a movie scenes where biker gangs harass a car or truck on a highway. If a biker gang ever harassed me on a highway while I was driving a car there be a lot of dead bikers because four wheeled cars always win over two wheeled motorcycles.
Since when is a theft a crime in LA anymore?

Glorious flip. Well done! 10/10!
You can always spot them they are the ones with a baggie and a spatula taped on the bike.
RIP Meat Loaf 1947 - 2022 😢
Looks like his pants and shoes were blown off upon impact with the sidewalk.
Yikes..
The rider was stupid. Not just because he died riding at an estimated 130 mph on city streets. He was stupid because he thought the way to avoid arrest was simply to go fast.
I ride. I ride responsibly. I've ridden in group rides with kids (yes all younger than me so I'm calling them kids) who ride irresponsibly. I've gone to a couple of memorials for several of them. I've watched a number of YouTube videos of "motorcycles vs cops" or some such.
The funny thing is, the guys that are "successful" at eluding police pursuit don't ride all that fast in town. A modern sport bike, anything in the (very common) 600 cc class or bigger is going to wildly out-perform any police car chasing it. They can turn and accelerate/decelerate far better than most anything on 4 wheels short of a supercar.
I know what a lot of guys are thinking - "you can't outrun the radio." On the highway, no. I've seen a few "successful" escapes where the rider was just lucky there was no-one available to be waiting for him at the exit. Also some of the highway patrol cars can keep up at 140+. In-town is where the motorcycle has all the advantages. The guys that get away seem to run it like a series of stoplight drag races. Turn, accelerate, brake, turn, etc. They take advantage of being able to weave between vehicles, use sidewalks, etc. But they always slow down and weave through the thickest pack of cars they can find - because the far larger police vehicles chasing them cannot squeeze through and it takes time for the lights and sirens to convince people to get out of the way. In that time the bike is already at the next intersection and turning. They can quickly get out of sight and lost in the maze of streets. There are videos of guys losing the pursuit, then stopping and waiting for them, or turning around and running back to them - just playing with them. (got to be infuriating, and I think that's the point)
So yes, it is stupid to run that fast in town, and it is stupid to not know how to use your equipment to greatest advantage. Not that I would condone such behavior. In fact that is one of the main reasons I don't go on group rides anymore. Not my style of riding.
We had an incident some years ago near Long Beach City College where some maniac on a motorcycle was doing 100mph+ down the street for kicks and ran into a woman driver making a left hand turn. The bike and the car exploded in flames, the woman was burned over 90% of her body and died a few weeks later. A beautiful young woman who was a teacher I believe at the college. The motorcyclist died on impact. This happened in the middle of the day. Stupid, insane, and senseless.
There’s a longer clip making the rounds on the internet that shows the aftermath of the wreck. The mutant ended up on the sidewalk at least a hundred feet away, and the thing that stood out about him as he is lying there on the sidewalk is that his pants are gone. LOL.
He felt nothing. He was dead before the nerves could carry pain messages to his brain.
Can the driver of the automobile sue for damages to his car or will his insurance agency have to “eat” the repairs?
If his car is considered “Totaled” they will issue a “scrap” title. It will then be sent to southern Missouri for destruction.
Instead of destroying it, the scrappers will find another car with damages on the opposite end, and CANNIBALIZE the two to make one car that “runs”.
Then they will slip it down into Arkan-saw and sell it through the Auto Auctions.
The buyer then can apply and get a new clean Arkansas title showing the car had never been wrecked. “and only driven to church on Sunday by the salesman’s grand-maw.”
Guaranteed to drive till you sign the papers and get it off the lot.
Sad part is with that impact he can't even be an organ donor.
