You’re absolutely correct, I have virtually no knowledge of the Australian “system” which I would have assumed (oh sorry, “Asshumed”, right?) is basically the English colonial system somewhat modified. Well,that is probably why you don’t understand that our Federal government didn’t have much say in all the different state vaccine mandates. With the exception of the initial National border closure (which lasted way too long and was a terrible decision by the Federal Government), the states here have much more power than the US states,and can close their borders (which many did) and make the vaccine mandates. The Federal government was generally against vaccine mandates, wanted schools to remain open, and the only Federal vaccine mandate is that aged health care workers be vaccinated. So our Federal mandates and restrictions are less than the USA which has now mandated all health care workers be mandated as approved by your Supreme Court and your government wanted vaccine mandates for most workers. And overall, most of our restrictions and mandates in the states are no worse than California, New York, etc. And in some states, we are more like the red states in the USA and our schools have remained open, for example.
If you are talking about Novak, as I mentioned before the USA has the same restrictions on unvaccinated foreigners entering your country. And this was not really culturally about the vaccines, it was that Australia really protects its borders, while the USA doesn’t. Also, the Aussie culture hates the elite trying to break rules and getting special attention. I agree that Morrison should be much stronger. He has been very strong against the CCP, based on their taking over of Hong Kong and breaking the agreement, calling for investigations of Covid in China, highlighting the slave labor in China and their aggression against Taiwan. But he lets the far-left media, like the ABC, attack the government without fighting back, and the ABC is financed by us, like the NPR and PBS is in the USA. He is too soft, but he is what we have. I think for sure, because of the left-wing media attacks, he is going to be beat by Labor’s far left Albanese, who is further left than Biden (if that is possible). Then I am really afraid what will happen here. It is Labor that is for all the strict mandates. Western Australia’s leftist Premier just announced yesterday he is extending the border lock-down (the only state that still has one) and then Albanese backed him with a speech shortly after that.
