Good points. This was the first such pandemic in a hundred years. We didn’t know what we were facing or how to deal with it. Mistakes were made, but they would have been worse with any other president.
To be fair, all the Presidents were intimidated of FBI Director Hoover when he was in charge back in the day. The Deep State is powerful. To take on the entire Deep State, you would have to be Pinochet.

Yes. But they could not have written the piece without that, so they put it in. Trump merely assigned the covid response to the various health departments, and Fauci just happened to be the tyrant in charge of it all.

They think they have to do a story like this every so often so they can feel that they are evenhanded. Trump can probably take the blow and survive.
