During the Iron Dog Snow Machine race, either last year or the year before, there was one section of trail where the moose were hanging out. They’d much rather follow/hang out on a snow machine trail rather than trying to make their way through deep snow. They do not like efforts to try to chase them off the trail. One fellow who was trail breaking for racers had a moose encounter where the moose ran by and kicked his snow machine in passing - did some damage, too.

The Iditarod overlaps with the Iron Dog in places so the dog teams could also encounter grumpy moose.

Moose will use the railroad tracks as trails in Alaska, in the winter.....Sometimes that doesn't work out so well for them....
