    zero-energy electronic states ???
Ahhh, geez. I’ve been rolling my eyes over this kind of discussion on the LENR front — things such as Randell Mills’ Hydrinos, EVOs [Exotic Vaccuum Objects], and Zero Point Energy. Now I’m gonna have to give credence to all that stuff.

Some of this “secret sauce” stuff was covered in the article about “French dressing”, posted earlier.

    corner-sharing triangles
https://www.bing.com/search?q=kagome+lattice&FORM=QSRE6
According to 2 sources
The kagome lattice—a lattice consisting of corner-sharing triangles—has been studied in the context of quantum physics for 70 years (ref. 1). The particular geometry of this lattice means that the electronic structure naturally features a flat band, inflection points called van Hove singularities and Dirac cones (Fig. 1a).

The Kagome lattice consists of corner-sharing triangles and is characterised by a large degree of geometric frustration, which becomes visible for instance in an antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model: while two of the three spins can be antiparallel, the third one is frustrated—both possible configurations will always contain one good and bad bond and are hence degenerate.

The Kagome lattice is of particular interest to us because it manifests geometric frustration - the phenomenon of having a large number of degenerate ground states for geometric reasons -in various contexts. Frustration forbids ordering even at zero temperature, and often leads to exotic phases of matter.

Kagome: The Story of the Basketweave Lattice: Physics ...

Feb 01, 2003 · Physics Today 56, 2, 12 (2003); https://doi.org/10.1063/1.1564329. The Japanese word kagome has become popular with the magnetism community in discussing the lattice structure of geometrical spin frustration. One might guess that this word is the name of some Japanese scientist. But kagome means a bamboo-basket ( kago) woven pattern ( me) that is …

Thanks for the ping. This is definitely LENR-related, so I’m pinging the LENR list.

Unusual Properties Superconductivity and hints of charge density wave order in the new family of kagome metals studied by Comin and colleagues were discovered in the laboratory of Professor Stephen Wilson at the University of California, Santa Barbara , where single crystals were also synthesized (Wilson is a coauthor of the Nature Physics paper).
***UCSB strikes again. Even though it has a reputation as a party school, it has top notch engineering talent [such as the only Nobel Prize Laureate in Electrical Engineering]. The reason is because these guys can teach ANYwhere in the world. UCSB flies them in during the middle of winter, right after they interview with Chicago or New York or ColdVille, and the airport is directly next door to UCSB which is right on the beach. 70 degree weather in the middle of winter. Go Gauchos!
