I always suggest you seek the care of a physician who knows you.

In general I would seek -mabs because you are still with symptoms at day 9.
I hope you continue to feel better and fo well.

That’s funny. Uganda had only 200 cases of Covid.

Seems the entire population uses HCQ, has for years, to fight against rampant malaria. Ugandans can’t begin to afford the latest cash cow drugs churned out from Bi$ Pharma.

Of course, who would dare trust Big Pharma ever again, after plainly blowing up the hearts of youngsters, athletes and oldsters.

I don’t have a physician currently. The one I had retired a couple of years ago and since Covid, our local Banner Clinic has been backed up for months, especially since I’m now considered a new patient again. I’ve been sharing BP pills with my husband while I waited for the Covid hysteria to die down, never thinking for a moment that it would go on this long.

Thank you for your response. I’ll go to the urgent care tomorrow to see what they recommend. At the very least they should be able to provide me with stronger cough medicine than I can get OTC. Heck, maybe they can give me some sample BP pills while I wait for an appointment at the clinic.

You say HCQ doesn’t work? On what basis do you make this assertion?

“ Nope. Never taking anything that turns my immune system off. Nope.”

Well, then maybe you should lay off the ibuprofen (Advil).

Since HCQ Is already one of the most widely prescribed drugs on the planet, has anyone looked at a database to find out if any Current HCQ users got COVID?

That would be so stupidly simple and definitive.

And if they haven’t, then why haven’t they?

This I can agree with. MAB’s are also readily available in my area. When I was dealing with COVID, I was scheduled for MAB treatment, but thankfully I was symptom-free in about 4 days. Strong immune system and good diet seem to still count for something.

Off label use? How dare they suggest such a thing! It is wildly irresponsible. Someone should lose their license to practice! Viscous irresponsible disinformation an lies.

After reading Robert Kennedy’s “The Real Dr. Fauci”, it’s going to be one hell of a long time before I trust any new “miracle” drugs out of the current unbelievably corrupt medical system.

Mandatory reading.

“You say HCQ doesn’t work? On what basis do you make this assertion?”

Probably because when the chance finally came during Covid-19 to try chloroquine in vivo on live human beings it failed to work like it did in the 2005 lab experiments using African green monkey tissue where it worked like a charm. Those lab tests are why HCQ was hoped to be effective against SARS viruses.

” These data clearly show that addition of chloroquine can effectively reduce the establishment of infection and spread of SARS-CoV if the drug is added immediately following virus adsorption.”

Keep an eye on your O2 saturation level, that will give you a good idea if pneumonia is creepy in. If your level drops to 90% or below, get to the ER. Your local drugstore or Walmart should have oximeters ($20-$40).

I am 10 years younger than you but same BMI, mild hypertension, had the unproductive cough, fever (99-101) and bad sore throat for 2-3 days. I ended up in the ER around day 10-11 with pneumonia in every lobe of both lungs in mid-December. I spent 7 days in the hospital.

My BP actually got very low and they stopped my BP medicine (Lisinopril-HCTZ) after the 2nd day in the hospital. My BP stayed below 140/90 for almost 2 weeks until it starting going up. I am back to taking my original dose and it is keeping it under control. The 10-12 pounds I lost during the sickness may have contributed to the lower BP, put about 10 lbs back on.

My heart rate during and after is a bit concerning. It has varied from 60’s to 120 but it seams to be stabilizing between 80-100, lately. I am finally getting back to normal as far as physical activity. Might even fire the chainsaw up later today and cut some wood for exercise.

On the 1st day in the hospital I was put on a 10 day course of a steroid (7 day IV and 3 day pill at home).

“Should someone in my situation seek monoclonals”

This is confusing. It was my understanding monoclonals were only for early treatment (1-4 days in). I had one good doctor for days 2-3 of my stay. He told me on day 2 I was too late for early treatment options; I was almost 2 weeks out from 1st symptom (fever). Then on day 3 he said my supplemental O2 requirement was increasing making me suitable for a clinical trial treatment, which turns out to be what this article describes.

I was giving one IV bag of Sarilumab, which is basically the same as what the article describes. I wasn’t aware this is considered a monoclonal and still not sure. The doctor told me I was the 3rd or 4th patient that he had used this on and all had good results, I agreed to take it. It is crazy expensive.

I can’t stress enough to keep an eye on your O2 saturation level. If you don’t have a finger meter get one now and regularly check yourself, especially if your level is declining. It can drop very fast into the danger zone (less than 88%).

I suspect you might be lucky and have the omicron variant which is not as likely to end up in pneumonia. Good luck and may God be on your side.

It appears, through what you just posted, that it works well if take as a prophylactic or immediately after contacting the virus - is this correct?

Thanks for your reply. I have an oxygen saturation meter that I’ve been using daily and my 02 sats have been 95% or above every day I’ve been sick. My only symptom at this time is a semi productive cough, but that’s getting better every day. I haven’t had a fever in about a week. Hopefully I have omicron and I’ll be back to normal in a couple of days. If not, I’ll definitely seek outpatient treatment.

My BIL died of Covid on January 6th after 2 weeks on a ventilator, which is the same day my symptoms started, so I’m well aware of how serious it can be. He contracted Covid around Thanksgiving tho, meaning he pry had delta. He also had a negative Covid test initially so waited to get treatment, at which time it was too late. 🤬
