Marcos Menaldo of Guatemalan outfit Deportivo Marquense has tragically died after suffering a heart attack during a training session on Monday.
The 25-year-old defender had complained he was finding it difficult to breathe during a pre-season session as he geared up for the new campaign alongside his teammates.
The tragedy occurred at the Marquesa de la Ensenada Stadium where Menaldo received emergency CPR treatment on the pitch in San Marcos before being transferred to the Hospital de Especialidades where he died.
A centre-back by trade, Menaldo was a fan favourite due to his efforts during Deportivo's successful second division title win last term, crowned Liga de Ascenso champions in December - coincidentally on the same day as Menaldo's 25th birthday.

Hernan Maldonado, Deportivo's club president, has already addressed the heartbreaking death of his player, telling ESPN digital : "One does not come out of astonishment.
"A young, dynamic and jovial person, this happens to him. It is quite strong and shocking because you lose not only a player, you lose a friend.
"God has his plans and his purposes, but unfortunately we have the death. It was around 11:00 hours that they called me to inform me that Marcos had fainted in training.
"They transferred him to the assistance centre where they did everything possible. But unfortunately, the death was confirmed."
His death is not the first to shock football in recent weeks, nor the first cardiac arrest either.
Croatian footballer Marin Cacic died in similar circumstances before Christmas after a sudden collapse in training.
The 23-year-old was diagnosed with heart failure shortly after being rushed to a nearby hospital.

I'd point out what someone else already did - many professional sports leagues are either requiring or encouraging their players to get the shot.
If you were talking about a kid playing a game of soccer in the local neighborhood, you might have a point. That he is a professional player makes it much more likely that he received the jab than he didn't.

Mortality in international professional football (soccer): a descriptive study 2015 Nov
A total of 214 deaths were recorded among active and recently retired professional footballers, leading to an overall mortality rate of 0.47 per 1000 footballers per year. Of the 214 deaths, 183 were recorded among active players and 31 among recently retired players. Among the active players, 17% of the fatalities were related to football participation. Disease was the leading cause of death among professional footballers (55%), of which up to 33% accounted for suspected cardiac pathology. Accidents accounted for 25% of the overall deaths, and suicide for 11%. From 2007 to 2013, 214 deaths were recorded among active (during career) and recently retired (post career) professional footballers. Leading cause of death was disease (55%), one third of which were accounted for by suspected cardiac pathology, while accidents accounted for 25% of all deaths, and suicide for 11%. Attention to the predictive validity and application of heart-related precompetition medical assessment should be given, and mental health support should be developed and implemented both during and after a professional football career to prevent potential suicidal behaviors.

I agree, which is why we shouldn’t speculate to promote an agenda. Without knowing this person’s medical history, covid history, vaxx history, family medical history, substance abuse history, etc., we can only guess as to the cause of his cardiac death.
IMHO, the anti-vaxxers are no better than the climate change kooks, who blame every environmental death on climate change. They are also no better than the “Covid Karen’s” who equate dying with covid and dying because of covid as one in the same.

I haven't seen any evidence the rate of cardiac deaths among footballers is any higher than average. Have you?
Besides, young soccer players haven't been eligible for vaccines in most countries for more than the last six months so the two year thing isn't relevant.
