Time for Harris to Cut Biden Loose
WSJ ^ | 13 Jan 2022 | James Freeman

Posted on 01/14/2022 10:36:45 AM PST by DUMBGRUNT

There’s no reason for Kamala Harris to participate any longer in the failing presidency of Joe Biden. If she chooses to assert her constitutional authority and seeks to build a majority political coalition, she can unify the country, ensure American prosperity and win election to the presidency in 2024. Starting today she can simply decide unilaterally to dominate policy-making in what’s left of the Biden era.

This week brings more reports of her struggle to add value to Team Biden. But this team is losing and she can best help the country and herself by entering the political equivalent of the NCAA transfer portal.

Our own suggestion is that Ms. Harris should quit. We don’t mean that she should resign the vice presidency. On the contrary, she should quit the White House. The thing for her to remember is that — constitutionally — the vice president doesn’t report to the president. The vice president can’t be fired by the president. She can’t even be told what to do. She was elected in her own right.

What constitutional authority does a VP actually have again?

Every comment is ad hominem about Harris....

Nonsense. There is plenty of that, but one can comment on her cackle, but it is only worth mentioning because it is in place of an actual articulate statement. I've never heard an intelligent peep out of her nor heard of a memorable accomplishment.

She's really quite beautiful, but she still looks idiotic because we know her by her deeds.

The author honestly seems to think she is the stronger of the two. The delusion on the left sometimes is just hard to grasp. Either that or this whole thing is tongue and cheek and they’re setting her up.

Here we go she resigns, Biden picks Hillary to replace him. She declares 25th on him [I think you mean replace her].

Scary scenario but could happen.

This is the scenario I'd like to see, no matter how improbable: After the November 2022 elections, Republicans win both the House and Senate. Both Biden and Harris are impeached and the Senate, with Dems fed up with both, vote to convict making House leader and Speaker McCarthy president. Otherwise we continue with Dems in charge of the Executive Branch until 2025.

What constitutional authority does a VP actually have again?

If she wanted to, she could spend her days presiding over the Senate.

As the presiding officer, she would be responsible maintaining order and decorum, recognizing members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices, and precedents.

Most of these responsibilities are pro forma, without any discretion by the presiding officer. Some areas where the presiding officer has some discretion (subject to challenge) are:

Pipe dream. Kamala’s policy crew has been heading for the hills for the last couple of months. She’s not smart enough on her own to chart this course.

she can unify the country,
ensure American prosperity
and win election to the presidency in 2024

She can't do any of those things.

Agreed. She wasn’t the one elected to run the country, it was Biden. As VP, she has to follow his orders. If she doesn’t like it, she can quit.

—”Maybe it’s just me but it sure seems the Dems/RINOs are in almost total control while the Republican Party seems happy chanting, “Let’s go, Brandon!” The score seems kind of lopsided to me.”

Complete agreement.

That said, I still believe: “Politics is the art of the possible, the attainable — the art of the next best”.

And tends to follow a graph similar to the predator-prey relationship. But the dems held the majority of congress for ~60years between the mid-1930s to mid-1990s Less two separate sessions.

Perhaps some long ago change rearing its ugly head?
Direct election of senators? Gov employee unions? Vote for free money from the US treasury?...

The internet???

Big cities are always prog territory and now moving quickly to dystopia.
