You can't safely and effectively "can" without safe and reliable lids.
I agree that if you see canning lids, get some for yourself and some for a prudent neighbor; also good for bartering even other food crop seed, or just exchange.
In season, they are almost impossible to find, much less, in any sizeable numbers.
I know there used to be a 'reusable lid' called "Tatter", which could be used several times , but I haven't heard much about them lately.
Anybody know anything current about them ?
I’ve used Tattlers and they work very well.
I have not used them for pressure canning though, but have some 11 year old applesauce that is still sealed by them. I’m hanging on to them just to see how long they can go before they fail.
I’ve been stocking up on tattler lids. I have not used any yet. I’ll admit, they make me nervous. Which is why I’ve also been stocking up on regular lids.
