CLEARWATER, Fla. — Two women are facing a felony charge after police said they went to a man’s apartment in Clearwater and started throwing glitter at him during an argument.

According to arrest affidavits from Pinellas County, 27-year-old Kaitlin O’Donovan and 29-year-old Sarah Franks went to the man’s apartment on Fairwood Avenue just before 3 a.m. on Monday and started arguing with him as he stood on his fenced balcony.

Advertisement Both women threw a container of glitter at the victim during the argument, according to Clearwater police. The arrest affidavits stated that the man was hit in the head and torso.

Officers said Franks then climbed over the balcony fence, went into the man’s apartment and threw more containers of glitter at him. She then unlocked the front door to let O’Donovan inside as well, the affidavit said.

Once she was inside the apartment, police said O’Donovan also threw more containers of glitter at the man.

According to police, Franks left the apartment complex in a vehicle that was then traced back to her Seville Boulevard home. The arrest affidavit said the vehicle was still warm to the touch and had glitter inside when police found it.

Franks and O’Donovan were both arrested and charged with felony burglary with assault or battery. Franks was also charged with criminal mischief because police said she kicked a window until it broke as she was leaving the apartment.

“but throwing glitter in somebody’s face and eyes can cause serious eye damage and potential blindness. It can shred an eyeball.”

Okay, I’m up for your stupid-ass game. Link all stories where hundreds of eyeballs were shredded by glitter. I’ll wait.

You know how hard it is to clean up glitter?
Make them clean up every piece by hand.

“Glitter is forever everywhere.”

Isn’t that the truth? I had a woman helping me with yard work. She brought her four year old daughter with her and I let the child watch our TV. She had various toys with glitter and it took me a full year to get the last damn speck out of the house.

Then, this Christmas, my wife brings out little glitter covered Christmas trees for decorations and we are right back where we were a couple years ago.

The stuff is EVIL!

Most craft glitter you can buy is not safe to get in your eyes or ingest because it can scratch your eyeballs, your guts, or damage your lungs. Just like say quartz sand or metal shavings. Just because it’s shiny foofoo doesn’t make it safe. There is cosmetic and food grade glitter which is safe to use as eye makeup or decorate cookies.

these 2 nuts probably got the idea from an article in cosmopolitan where a woman lost her eye due to an infection resulting from a glitter scratch.

The 911 call should be good for some laughs.

I don't think there's anything funny about this.

The story leaves out details, but throwing glitter in somebody's face and eyes can cause serious eye damage and potential blindness. It can shred an eyeball.

You are right about that. Also, when the DC Chapter of FR was volunteering at Walter Reed, we had to go through all the greeting cards we collected for the wounded to make sure there was no glitter that could fall off into a not-yet-fully-healed incision.

Definitely. I find it to be a dreadful curse when it’s on greeting cards.
