Iām on a mission to rebuild a 109-year old English sailing yacht called Tally Ho.
Designed by Albert Strange in 1909, she is a well-known and important historic vessel ā but after many adventures she was left in a remote port in Oregon to rot for decades, despite some valiant attempts to rescue her.
I bought her and moved her to the Olympic Peninsular earlier this year, and am now starting to rebuild her from the keel up. Eventually I hope to sail her back to the UK.
This sailor shipbuilder has been working to restore a 1910 Caff Cutter for 2 plus years now and is still going.
Engine install, but lots more to go.
Incredible planning and craftsmanship.

If you like boat building check out SV seeker. The guy built a 70 foot steel junk in his front yard. He is waiting to get insurance to splash it in Tulsa.
Yeah, Travis McGee’s privateer under construction.
Looking at how much of the wood is rotted, I’m wondering if the “restoration” is really building a new boat which looks like the old one.
How much of the original wood will remain when they’re done?
I watched their Youtubes. Incredible.
I expect the stick-by-stick rebuild is closer to the truth. At least he’s in the right neighborhood to get all the right materials. There’s no way I’m sailing a 110 year piece of firewood to England.
Thanks for posting. I have a ‘79 Seafarer 30 on the dry and don’t have enough time or disposable $’s to throw at her.
Need motivation (and disposable $’s!)
Fair winds, FRiend.
What is a Caff Cutter?
Practically none.
He rebuilds the framing from Strage’s original plans scaled up in the loft.
That’s a small piece of the process if you can believe it.

If you are into sailing, there are some very good Vlogs with great scenery of the areas they visit.
In general, I find there are many great Vlogs on YouTube. I spend more time watching YouTube then standard TV shows.
Ok so he took the gas cap off and drove another boat under it! The skill level to build the boat is incredible. Very impressive person to have the skills, management, ability to source material, etc to build the boat.
Boatmark for later.
I found like episode #38 and started there.
Binged three nights in a row.
Then went back to the beginning.
That’s just me, but I found every aspect of this incredible Odessey fascinating, enlightening, entertaining and motivational.
Dedication. Perseverance. Look what you can do when you put your mind to it.
That was my takeaway.
Oh, OK.
Single mast with a spar.
Watch from the beginning and get a history for free š
Sorry, no thanks, I don’t watch videos.
Back in the day:), I saw some absolutely beautiful wood, working junks in Hong Kong.
