Starbucks customers arriving to claim their mobile drink orders have found cafes shut, and delivery drivers are waiting longer to pick up some McDonald's Big Macs.
Service at U.S. restaurants has slowed as Omicron, the latest COVID-19 variant, sickens workers and scares off others, leaving many businesses without enough staff.
Starbucks Corp (SBUX.O) customers complained on Twitter last week about temporary closures and reduced hours at locations around the country, including in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, California, New Jersey, Florida and New York.
Lawyer William Clarke told Reuters he placed a mobile order for coffee at a Starbucks in Hoboken, New Jersey at 9:20 am one morning. But the store had not opened yet when he arrived, and he had to seek a refund. The location has been opening late and closing altogether on some days since the end of December, he said.

If I were a fast food worker I’d be much more concerned about the emerging pandemic of getting shot in the face.
First world problems.
Oh, the horror .
No skin off my back. I’ve stopped eating McDonald’s when they got rid of the Styrofoam containers and fries cooked in beef fat.
“a Starbucks in Hoboken”
Yes, that says it all...
RE: lack of lattes and now delays at McDonald’s....
We always wondered what the tipping point of societal breakdown would be. We’ve just heard it specified.
Dr.Mary Elizabeth Sullivan: Locke’s Social Contract. John Locke’s take on the social contract theory, which he lays
out in his 1689 work, Two Treatises of Government, is both widely known
and widely critiqued.
The age-old social contract theory, which assures
that the government in question has been consented to by the people it
has jurisdiction over, gives people the right to check their government if
it steps out of line, leaving power with the majority. In simple terms,
social contract theory asserts that government exists only by the consent
of the people in order to protect basic rights and promote the common
good of society.
Are they really sick...or just tested postive?
That’s actually a real problem.
Good.
Drive thru lattes are overrated, overpriced and Garbage that only virtue signaling knuckleheads purchase to demonstrate their fabulousness to the world around them. Which is a world that doesn’t give a sh!t.
Personally, I prefer Folgers instant.
Piss on the rest of them.
A little at a time. There are predictions of real problems to come, beginning in a couple of weeks. I think we’re seeing a managed decline. As it worsens, there will be proposed fixes. Things will get worse, and the fixes may provide some relief, all leading us closer to the lefty dream of a control economy.
So it seems.
Jo Jo the Pedo Clown and his Marxist Snowflakes probably see this as good news. “Dog-faced Americans don’t need to eat anyway.”
I agree; it is another step in a managed decline that has been ongoing for years. Private ownership of homes or vehicles, or the costs associated with having children, make them much less likely for young people today; the concept of “you’ll own nothing and be happy” outlines this. They’ll never have to maintain a property, change a diaper, or fix a vehicle - they’ll have no demands on them at all.
It was nice when this started in early 2020 to see the war on plastic straws and bags disappear from the news; when they returned to the front page I knew the gubmint and its media weren’t really concerned about the virus anymore. Back to eliminating those remnants of the “before-times”...
Are they really sick...or just tested postive?
Exactly. Until these businesses STOP requiring all these tests all the time, then they won’t be able to function. It’s total insanity. The lines of sheep waiting to get tested are appalling.
Had a great dinner at Media court diner. no masks and crap.
I’m with you on the fries….I used to absolutely love them.
.
Boo hoo. Starbucks has the worst coffee in the universe. I went to their first shop in Seattle, hated the coffee and the employees. Tried it again a few years ago. It still sucks.
The horror!
