I read the article and I don’t see where AA actually apologized to the little snot. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they did, but I only see where they said nonsense like they take this seriously and it will be investigated.

AA only response should be — If you want to make an issue of the pilots politics I suggest you walk, here is your refund on the next leg of your itenary.
Listen Karen, The AA Aircrew wants an Unbent 7x7 at the arrival gate 5 minutes before the published time at least 2 times on their day. They need to make a connection to work at least twice a month and know exactly what you just delt with.
The cockpit is the land of realism in a way most people do not understand, fuel on board vs flight time left, N2 performance, V speeds and landing roll. A 2x3 luggage tag on a flight bag only sets the parameters of the discussion while waiting on weather, operations, mechanics, vendors, and traffic.
There is a locked door between the passengers and the air crew, every word said between the pilot and co pilot is recorded and uploaded to the airlines, so they are aware of the state of their pilots. The crew in the back deals with amature travelers, smelly people, the sick, the infirmed, the drunk, the karens and pilot and co pilot. Whatever the politics of the air crew and the cabin crew getting your ass to cleavland before 7:05pm in a standard operational tempo is their goal. There is no major event on a flight that does not affect the guys and gals in the cockpit seats first. Want to complain about the tag...call the pilots union and not the AA customer relations department.
The tag is just related to the conversation to be had by the air crews when waiting on the delays or on the crew shuttle to the airport. As a passenger stay the fuck out of the aircrews grills unless it is very short thank you for hanging with the extended on duty schedule through the delays. The AA pilot workforce is still down 20%, let the republican have a tag.
Definitely a candidate for the SSS list...

I'd imagine the pilot in question understands that American Airlines is in no position to fire him.
Better than half of these guys are former military pilots and none of them are begging for jobs right now.
