On Monday morning, the Vikings made what might have been the most sweeping set of leadership changes in the Wilf family's 16 years of owning the team.

The team fired coach Mike Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman on Monday morning, according to a source familiar with the team's decision-making, parting with two men who'd been in their positions longer than most of their peers around the NFL. Both Zimmer and Spielman had two years remaining on the contract extensions they signed in 2020, but a day after the team finished 8-9 and missed the playoffs for the second straight season, the Vikings opted for a total reset.

While it may be insignificant, Sunday's win did cost them the 1st pick in the draft.

Seems to me this is going to be one of the weaker drafts in awhile, so I don't think losing the 1st pick was that big of a deal, they were better off trying to win. If anything, maybe the Lions can trade their 2nd pick.

Firing Monte Clark was the biggest mistake the Lions ever made.

Damn Eddie Murray, if only he made that damn FG against the Niners.

Re: "Dolphins also fired their coach."

Dolphin team owner Stephen M. Ross is totally "Woke."

He was the first guy to hire a female executive for player personnel, and he hired many other female execs for non-football jobs like finance and press relations.

Ross might have been the first guy to have a Black head coach and a Black general manager at the same time.

He sold small shares of the Dolphins to local Black and Hispanic entertainers, and gave them their own sky box.

Ross bought total control of the Dolphins in 2009.

Since then, he has had 3 winning seasons in 13 years, and made the Play Offs one time.

His best season was 10-6, and he promptly lost the Wild Card game.

NO Doubt about it.

Damn Eddie Murray, if only he made that damn FG against the Niners.

That was hard to live with for a LONG Time. ;)

F the Dolphins since they snubbed Limbaugh from being part owner.

And the Steelers, only 3 coaches in the last 50+ years, now that’s loyalty.

I never forgave the Dolphins for firing Shula.

Just as I know there are still some here in Dallas that have never forgiven Jerruh for firing Landry.

Why wouldn’t they? Between his history and making the playoffs with a rookie in a season everybody was labelling a rebuilding year, he’s a great coach. If they fire him half the league will be throwing money at him before the press conference is over.

Maybe its payback time with Campbell being in Detroit.

Of course living here in DFW, I still take some personal satisfaction in that our only playoff win since ‘57 came against the Cowboys.

Of course had Don McCafferty not passed away suddenly back in the 70s, who is to say what he could have done in Detroit.

That Charger coach should be fired for that timeout he called last night.

Biggest mistake the Vikings ever made was moving indoors.

That’s why they got toasted in that Philly NFC championship game.....couldn’t handle the cold......

I was happy to see the Lions get to the playoffs since 1970 (Schmidt). The record was bad of course. Still. Lions Playoffs.
As a young teenager in Detroit at the time. We where happy to have it. :) Kinda of like Michigan finally winning the Big Ten. LOL!

They called The Met, “The 23rd Viking”, and for good reason.
